I am setting up a new tank and plan to put a auto top-off on it. The kalk container is 30gal. I want to put a float switch in the kalk container so it will also stay full. The thing is I do not want the fresh RO/DI water going into the kalk while the kalk top off pump is running. Any suggestions?

What ato are you you using?
Also how are you refilling the holding tank?

I have not bought one yet. Still looking. Suggestions?
I was hoping to just put a float switch in the kalk container but there is no way to put it on a timer. I plan to put thw kalk pump on a timer so it will only run at night.

Valve. Standard toilet grade from Lowes. No way to time it though so I will prob have to do a switch.

Do you think the slow rate on my RO/DI would bother the kalk while it is dosing?

I wouldnt do that, Id use a latch and solenoid. You need to give your rodi some run time between cycles (hysteris). The latch can be half the container or 3" but it dose need to be on for a bit.

Explain this?

When you use a float valve the water drop a tiny amount and then refills. This is tough on you rodi membrane and di resin.
A latch uses two float switches. Top float drops, when the tank level reaches the level of the bottom float ( could be the entire tank or 3") the rodi turns on and refills the tank until it reaches the top float which shuts off the rodi.

Make sense.

Yeah after I thought about it I figured out what you meant. I have had over 30 servers go down on me tonight. I am brain dead. Thanks for your patience. Where is a good place to get them? Plumbing store?

I'd go with Don's anyways, just because he's on this board. But the ATO switch from autotopoff.com has a latching configuration you can order.
