I see that when I switch to the default the scrolling is smooth and fast but when I switch to the reef (which I prefer the look of BTW) it dramatically slows the scrolling down and it's not smooth at all.

Yea I heard some folks have had scrolling problems, I havent had them myself. I think it may have to do with the browser type or java versions?? but I am guessing. On the default I would imagine its going to be faster as it doesnt have any of the links, headers or fotters and such.

When it was first put up I didn't have the scrolling lag. It has just been recently that I have noticed it getting a lot worse. It's the same on two separate PC's in our house. Both are running Firefox and I know a lot of people on here are too so if I am having the issue and they aren't then it isn't the browser. Either way, it's not annoying enough for me to want to change it.... yet Just thought I would let you know.

I received a message, but it did not go to my notifications, but said 1 new message in the center of the page at the top. The only reason I found that I got a message is because I was cleaning out my junk email on my email and saw it there. My problem now is I cant seem to find the message I had. There is no 1 new notification button anywhere I can see. Where do I go to find the message? Thx

No I appreciate the feedback eww. I think sid was having the same problem. Frank was to and changed it and I think he lost the issue, I will have to ask. I have even taken down the java on the front page and was going to take the globe down to see if that made a difference, so in listening to you it was not that that was doing it.

I am not a big tech guy so I am kind of empty on ideas for it. If someone out thier is and might have an idea I am all ears. The programer that did the upgrades said that every browser will have a different look and performance so that is why I made that suggestion. I am running IE 8 and dont seem to have any of that.

Alki thier is a pull down button on the navbar that says notifications, I would click that and see. When folks get a PM and they have pop ups blocked it doesnt create a new page.

This is whats there and no matter which I click there is no notifications.

Sorry disregard that. I see that notifications, but there is no message there that I got in an email. There was another place that a notification got sent that I cant find again. I dont think it was a normal pm, but something else.

Nevermind I found it. Its under classifieds. There is a separate notification there. A bit odd if you ask me..

That does the trick. Thanks. No headaches, the threads fill the entire width now, and no glitchy scrolling. If I want to see a reef, I just go look at my tank!

OK, OK... I get the idea. But like I said before, it's not that I don't like the picture... I just don't like what the page design does with that picture as background. I really think you're discounting the games people's brains and eyes play on them. We wouldn't have "optical illusions" if your brain doesn't trick your body into seeing things that really aren't there. Y'know that static graphic that makes you feel like you're spinning? That's what I'm talking about here... it's not that I don't "like" the picture, or am trying to be a royal pain in the ***. I'm just telling you what that specific page layout is doing to me. And because I don't think I'm a one-in-a-million type of guy, I'm sure others are in the same boat. If having that default option down there causes so many problems and causes your search engine optimization software to bomb out, then by all means get rid of that default option. Don't worry about me. I don't need to shoulder that responsibility.

As much as I actually hate the look, of the default VB Skin, it does get rid of the jerky scrolling issue, for me. Using the default skin, scrolling is great, except on the Home Page, which is still slow and jerky. I updated my Java, to make sure I had the latest, but that didn't help at all. In case this information helps, to narrow down any issues, I do use Firefox. However, I just opened Reef Frontiers, using IE. The scrolling is still jerky, but not near as bad as it is on Firefox. Unfortunately, I hate IE and refuse to use it....lol.

Kurt no problem and I understand your concern and yes their are others that are having the same problem with the scrolling an such. I just wish I could find out what was causing it. I find myself scrolling up and down the screen trying to recreate it :smash: and I cant so it just a bit frustrating.

Having different skins that dont have the same controls/features/links creates a bit of a problem, it makes for twice the submission. But if it is a problem so many seem to be having then I would rather deal with that pain then this one.
The plan was (when we got a moment) was to recreate a plain version, but one that had the same features/links and so on as this one does. So hopefull the default one will tie you over in the mean time.
