Slick, that might as well be my slogan!!!!!! LOL
LOL...that's funny...i added the PB to my display a few weeks ago..it hasn't had any spots, but it picked up a slight bacterial inf..i literally just finished doing a 25g WC on my display tank..i did one last week and i have to continue them until the infection gets better!!! my hippo's are doing really well..i am in the process of raising the salinity back up!!!Funny you should say that Ron, I was thinking about you when I wrote it. How is that Powder Brown doing?
Sad news about the death.Today my watanable angelfish finally arrive, in fact he is in the aclimatation progress but he is infected with ick, I just reallize it when he was under the light in his bag, I dont have any qt tank, what can I do
With the QT, you can easily manipulate the water to match that of the bagged shipping water. Salinity, pH and so on. The fish can then be easily transitioned over a series of days instead of minutes!!
Obviously ammonia needs to be eliminated immediately.
You have to be careful with what you do on the aeration of the bag. Let it sit unopened to equalize temp 15-20 min. This will allow the pH to rise a little but not drastically. Raising the pH too much while the fish is in the bag is not a good idea. Ammonia becomes more toxic at higher pH values. Open the bag and remove whatever samples are needed for salinity and pH, then add a shot of dechlorinator that will also detoxify ammonia. Test the salinity, pH and adjust the QT as needed without delay. Once salinity, pH and temp are a match; remove the water from the bag and gently release the fish into the QT. There is no need to acclimate as long as those three are a good close match. Alkalinity is unimportant to the fish in this regard. So the tank parameters to match to the bag would be the salinity, alkalinity, and PH and match the bag to the desired temp while getting the oxygen level up ASAP?
