Is a 5.6 gallon HOB refugium too small for an 80g tank?

Im an idiot, and didnt measure it before I bought it and cant return it. It doesnt fit on my 30g...Id like the 80g to be s/w someday, but a 5.6g fuge on an 80g tank seems small.

It s not to small it won't have a major impact either. Remember it is to increase water volume and a place to grow macro and pods.

It will work as a pod breeding zone but if you want it for nutrient export it is not close to being large enough.

I agree with Brian...Great for pods and will do a little something for nutrient export (via using a macro algae) but do to its size and what bioload you have, will determine how much effect it will have on nutrient export. :)

Use it anyway. Any increase in export and secondary filtration is better than nothing. Besides, you already bought it, might as well use it. You can always upgrade later.
