Very quick fuge question?

Is a 5.6 gallon HOB refugium too small for an 80g tank?

Im an idiot, and didnt measure it before I bought it and cant return it. It doesnt fit on my 30g...Id like the 80g to be s/w someday, but a 5.6g fuge on an 80g tank seems small.

It s not to small it won't have a major impact either. Remember it is to increase water volume and a place to grow macro and pods.

It will work as a pod breeding zone but if you want it for nutrient export it is not close to being large enough.

I agree with Brian...Great for pods and will do a little something for nutrient export (via using a macro algae) but do to its size and what bioload you have, will determine how much effect it will have on nutrient export.

The back of my tank is probably too full but I wish I could buy it from you. Bummer.

Use it anyway. Any increase in export and secondary filtration is better than nothing. Besides, you already bought it, might as well use it. You can always upgrade later.
