I'm relatively positive that the high KH is due to me using well water. Our water in this area is notoriously hard and alkaline. I think vinny might help me get fixed up in this respect, and in the meanwhile I'll just have to keep on the water changes as all the snails turn my green hair algae into nitrates and phosphates. Some good news though, my coralline algae has gotten a ton more purple in the 2 weeks+ I've had the tank. I've been dosing calcium to try and even out the KH/calcium levels, but not seeing much progress on rising calcium levels. All the fish still look healthy, just trying to get everything else fixed up (nitrates, KH, phosphates) so I can throw in zoos/corals/anemones and get my reef going!

Any input on the high kh???

Test the source water and go from there. I noticed it was mentioned that well water was being used and if that is the case there can be contaminates coming in from the ground.

Best way to get your water in check is through water changes. Hate to see an over dose in something else while you're trying to get the alk in check.

Take your time and things will fall into place. Your source water is probably a big factor. I would suggest that you test your source water and continue from there.
