I have ton of caulerpa in my tank. Is there anything that will eat caulerpa?

Used to keep a planted tank with tangs and angels
Not too much that will eat large quantities of Grape. Many will eat prolifera, crassifolia
and mexicana but never seen a big time eater of racimosa, serrulata nor peltata.

I used to sell it on Ebay, ship damp rolled up in newspaper in a sealed bag full of air. Sold many dozens of them.

I have grape too
freakin weed..I pulled it out(so I thought) I now use a few strands on occassion for my tangs...I just put it in the seaweed clip..they don't feast on it but in a day or so it's picked and gone.

ok i have the same dam problem with that piece of my mind !#@#$3 hehe sorry :D :p .
Anyways, the only thing i have seen eating the darn thing is emerald crabs .
a few years back i had a great emerald crab that cleaned my tank like nobody's business but unfortunately it died :( , then i didn't buy another one and didn't take good care of the tank SO the darn thing came back  , i have another emerald and i pull as much as i can with my hands but trust me this is taking sometime .
i wonder if hermit crabs would eat this thing:confused:.

I have tried a emerald crab and it didn t eat it. I have a zebra crab and all it eats are my snails and other crabs.I have tried to remove the caulerpa/grapes by hand but the stuff keeps coming back! What about turning my light off for a few days? Without light it should die off right? But will doing this harm my soft coral (keyna tree, pulsing hand) and zoo's?

I will eat most any macro algae.

LMAO!!! can you come over my house please  .
a few years back i tried a yellow tang and it didn't work :( he wouldn't touch the thing.
.
turning your lights off doesn't work dood :(.

My Naso tang loves it when I bring in a hand full of grape caularpa from my fuge, he eats it in a matter of seconds!!!

matt

Thats one smart fish you got Deb
I only have a 87 gallon system! a naso tang is one big fish. I was thinking about a one spot foxface rabbit fish. I hear that they love the stuff!

I have had caulerpa come up on rock that had been cured for weeks without light, and then in my tank for months (but the caulerpa was not visible during that time). And then all of a sudden - there it is.

I think that the stuff can stay dormant almost indefinitely, and then grow out of the rock pores when you least expect it. So no, I don't think a few days without lights would work.

We also have a Yellow tang that eats it slowly when taken ou t of the fuge and put in a clip, but he can't type.

Thank you all for the great info! always nice to learn something new!
I wonder how many words per min. that tang types? Might have a job for it!:D
