I have a another question. My Flame Angel had ick so I put him in a QT to treat. Im using Odinex. (I know many have not heard of it so here's the web site)
www.hw-wiegandt.de/Englisch/Meerwasser/Odinex/odinex.html

anyway, he had two little ick spots. One over his left eye, another a little further back on his head. Both "spots" have fell off. However, where one of the ick spots was, now there's a little white line there. It's not puffly like ick is. It looks like someone drew a white line on him. It's about the length of his eye. What is this??

Assuming you've made the proper diagnosis, it isn't unusual for a bacterial infection to come along as a secondary condition. Sometimes during the flashing stage, the fish can harm itself, too. If the fish is provided proper nutrition and reduced stress, this should not be a problem as the fish will heal itself. However, if the tank the fish came from has other fish, then the other fish are infected with Marine Ich, too.

Watch the 'line' you see and notice any change. Be prepared to treat with an antibiotic should the area not seem to be healing. Review the foods and vitamins you supply to the fish, and lastly, perform a large water change.

Since we only know a few things about the medication, there is a small chance this is a reaction to the medication. Just be observant for any change in the condition.

Keep us informed, please! :)

The reason I tried using this "Odinex" stuff and not hypo was becuase it was recommended to me by someone who does this for a living. He works at the Chicago Shedd Aquarium. So I figured he knew what he was talking about. Ive never used this before, but from the little I've seen, it seems OK. Im feeding him

Alternanting days with Zoe.

Don't know anything about your angel predicament, but just wanted to say hi as there aren't many Chicago members on here. My father and grandfather both used to work at the Shedd back in the 70's and early 80's.

Is 'odinex' the brand name of this. If so, what's in it? I can't find any reference to it in my two disease books.

Did your Flame only have the two spots near his eye ? If so, I may not have been ick. And as far as Ick goes, I wouldn't use anything but Copper or Hypo

P.S. I'm from Indy but have lots of friends up in Chicago
All of which are Cubs fans:razz:

I was concerned that if it allowed the continual use of the UV, then the copper is not chelated or complex organically. This means, like a copper sulfate solution, the copper is a free ion.

Dwarf Angelfishes are adversely affected by copper treatments that are free copper AND that are chelated. Only copper that is organically bound is suitable for a Dwarf Angelfish treatment.

More on that here:
