How many times do I have to tell you to drag her over to our house? I will have a talk with her!

lol!!! eventually you'll get it :D.

Brian i agree with Julia, it's all about women talk to convince her to let you set up another one :D.

Well, the good news is I got some Lugol's last night and was able to dip four zoa colonies. I do not see new heads infected on them. The bad news is that one of the colonies is now missing most of its heads . I am not sure what to do considering that most of my zoos are attached to big LR, so I can't just pull them out and dip them... Maybe it is time to take the tank apart and peel all the zoos off... Gotta go for now!

When I bought some PE's at Blue Sierra there was one polyp of the 5 that looked like yours with all that brown crap. All I did was pinch the polyp and pulled it off. Needless to say, it never came back. Also whenever I get new zoos I run them under warm water straight outta the faucet for a minute or two. I have never had nudis or any other type of zoa infection. Good Luck.

Great, now I guess I know where I got it from! I hope you have conquered it by rinsing... if it spreads, it is just horrible. Good luck :)

LOL!!! :p.

i have never done it (i know i should :p) but you should always give the zoos you buy/get a dip ... just in case they have something bad.

Yes Gaby, I will DEFINITELY dip all my new zoos/frags from now on. I am just afraid it is too late with my current ones... Looks like the brown stuff is coming back on one of the colonies I dipped the other night, and two of the others aren't doing well at all (in fact, they are just about completely disintegrated). BUMMER!!! :(. I got a reply from WWM saying I should move the infected colonies into higher flow. I'll go do that and see what happens.

OK, dipping them in Lugol's last night did not seem to help... or maybe I did not do it right, or... at any rate, two of my favorite colonies are now just about dead (wow, that was quick). So I figured it wouldn't hurt to pull them out of the water and let them dry for a while (one of the possible remedies for fungal infections from the zoa web site). I pulled them out maybe an hour ago, and I am still debating whether to put them back in now or in the morning. I don't know if they will be dead if left "out" by morning. The house is around 70 degrees, so that's not a big deal... I figure that liverock collected in the wild gets colder than that and still polyps survive... not so sure about leaving sick polyps to dry overnight... then again, I don't see it making things a whole lot worse, and if it does end up helping, I will be quite thrilled.

Just some thoughts...

Maybe move all effected colonies to a quarantine tank

Run actinic only on the quarantine (sometimes this helps zoanthids open).

Good flow on the quarantine.

Do abundant water changes.

I have beat something similar to this before (brown coating on zoa colonies). The only success I had was in a different system outside my display. My theory was an irritant/predator like a crab or fish that was damaging the colonies and causing the infection to spread.

Good Luck... Keep us up to date.

I will be moving them into quarantine today. I did pick off some infected polyps, but apparently not all... Last night I left two of my "worst" colonies out of the tank to "dry". This morning they are back in the tank, and it looks like at least one polyp on one of them is still alive (yippee!). Hey, one is all it takes to restart a colony, right? :D

The new fish is doing great so far, thanks! It went into my 120 gallon tank. The polyp (the last of the mohicans, as I call it) is not looking too good, but still alive...

Did not get a chance to set up another tank for these guys today. Argh!
