I got in this baby hippo tang and it's developing some white spots. It looks like it may be the beginning stages of ick but it doesn't look like the little pimples i'm used to seeing at petco (sorry little jab). What do you guys think??

The Tang is roughly 2" long right now. Still eating and i noticed he rubbed his body against the rock a few times today.

This is what I'm used to seeing

The second photo you posted is a very severe cas eof Ich. If its that bad on your fish, you are in trouble. It definetly sounds like ick. Lee has great stickies on it in his forum.

That pic does look like it could be the start of ich but not positive. What I would do is start feeding lots of nori and a variety of frozen foods. Make sure that you keep food in the tank at all times to remove competition for food. As long as you tank is healthy I think that you fish will shake it off. Mine always have.

HeHe the 2nd photo is an example i found on the net. not my fish...my fish is the 1st photo...sorry i did not clarify. Also I'm not completely sure it's ick yet if you look at the 1st pic it's hard to tell. So i was hoping someone could identify it before i start treatment.

thanks I'll put in some nori tomorrow and i hope he starts to eat it. I'll put it back by his hiding spot so he knows it's his. I'll update when i see a change.

Yeah, I knew that. I meant that if you had a fish that looked like that, it would be terrible news. But you don't, so that's good. Uhm, but if you suspect your fish of having ich, you will probably want to treat it.

Came in this morning and it's developed into what i see in picture #2 not as severe but fresh water dip today at lunch is in order. then QT
