Depressing topic, I know. But one many people don't think about and unfortunetly due to my ongoing health issues I really should.

So Basically heres the deal. As some of you know, my health isn't the greatest due to an obscure disease that people don't know much about and further complicated by the fact that I can't take the one medication that can treat it.

I'm planning on Reefing until I drop, but I think I should have plans in place should that happen. I don't specifically care what happens to the tanks etc, as long as I could be assured that my fish can live out there lives properly cared for by an experienced hobbiest/organization. If it could be used for education or whatever, all the better.

Before everyone offers to take it should anything happen, keep in mind, you/they would need to be in a position to, on short notice possibly move my entire system out of my house which involves literally tons of equipment, water, rock, sand and livestock. This would all also have to be coordinated with grieving parents/GF etc. I don't really have a clue if any organization would even be interested in my mess, or if many people would have a clue how to move it.

I would love to know it could be used by an educational orginazation, or something like that. so I'm looking for options here..

oh man, this is a bummer. You have been the envy of many a reefer here. One thing that might work here is that you could donate it to Western; maybe the college science dept there? I'm sure they have a marine biology program. Or the local Comm College? Hopefully none of this will matter and you will enjoy lots more years with your reefs.

WOW, I know that cant be an easy topic to think about. and as much as I love your DT. in my present resedence I couldnt think about it.

what about the university? would they have a program? or Seattlle aquarium?
I dont know if there is any whatcom oriented conservation organization that could benefit from a generous donation such as that?

Hey Kevin,
I work at WWU, I will ask the marine biology folks if they could put it to good use.
Are there conditions that you would like to put on the donation? You can chat with me offline if you prefer.

I will to talk to my contacts at the Seattle aquarium about it if you'd like me to. Sorry to hear about everything!

I contact the Seattle Aquarium and they told me if we can get a hold of Andrew Sim he will lead us to the right direction.

At this time I know it's a bad time to think about it but had you thought about writing a will for your live stocks? Like how you wish certain live stock to be separate from which and what not?

That is excatly what I'm looking to do, hence this question.

Hell, I might outlive everyone here. Most people said I'd never see 21 do to my mispent youth and I'm 39 now. I'm pretty stubbern and don't plan on keeling over tomorrow.

Nah, after having met you, I think you will live to 100 :)
Besides they say "only the good die young".
There is some peace to be found in being prepared in any event.

In that case I might just see the next century. LOL

Unless they work in saw or shingle mills, I really don't know many people out here. I still have a bit of a city mentality and only barely know my neibours after 11 years here.
