FIVE HRS OF IN TANK WORK! FIVE!!!

Well I got'r'dun.. I removed allot of rock, Re-aquascaped the entire tank though along the same core appearance. I inadvertantly fragged virtually every colony in my posession :( I estimate about 3months worth of growth.

I was expecting a large dust storm after turning the closed loop back on but it ended up just being a haze. I located three deadzones where detritus had built up a bit so I sucked those out and did a water change.

The Ozone and skimmer have been working hard so I am confident this excercise has reduced the nutrients in my tank wether they were detectable or not. I'll keep folks posted on how this turns out..

I am a little concerned about removing the rock. All but about 40lbs was moved to the sump but I'd rather not keep it there. It would seem to me removing 80+ lbs of rocke completely from the system will cause an imbalance with my bio-load <--> bio filtration.. We'll see how it goes. I would estimate only about 180 lbs of rock exists in the display now, so I would definately be under the 1lb to 1gal ratio. Then again if I am efficiently removing waste before it breaks down the importance of the rock diminishes a bit as far as filtration goes..

:) tnx Dang. Yea I dont think I was meant for saltwater dips because I felt like crap today :) I think Ozone fried my brain too..

The new layout is growing on me but the water clarity is still not back yet. I still cry when I think of how many tips I broke.. One improvement that is probably among the most obvious is the increas in swimming space for the fish. I see allot more of them and some of the mild agression has seemed to calm down further.

Thanks Dang.

Here is a blurry full tank shot. Note I am just learning photoshop so the two images I tried to merge to make a full tank pic do not align perfectly. I also dont have multiples of the same fish ;)

This is the best I can do for comparrison..

you forgot to peel those zoos off the bottom while you were in there ;)

Looks good. I can definitely see where you took the rock out in the back cornerrs. Shoul dhelp with the flow in those areas. I'll come collect those broke tips for ya ;)

Thanks guys,

I'll take some pictures at some point soon but I had to share this phenom...

I have an acropora colony which was originally supposed to have a purple-blue coloration. It was green/brown on arrival (fine), but over time it became bright green on the base and stocks with the top .5" of each tip phazing to baby blue. It was very pretty. Well I had the said brown-out occur and it went totally brown..

Over the past 8 days color has been coming back but it's completely different! It is now turning lavender! It still has allot of brown but this complete color change is pretty wild to me. You wouldnt think they were the same coral. We'll see what it ends up as this go-round..

looks very good John. That blue acropora on the left is gorgous, is that the gomezi?

I stuck 6" long rodi tubing in each nostril just like you said Reed! :) lol

Yep.. that be my Gomezi Blue Tom. It is my baby, my pride. It only get's bluer and bluer.. The picture is very poorly balanced but in person it is like looking at a bushel of blueberries :) I have to mention though my fav colony in the tank is a Sarmentosa...

Hmmm, I am really going to have to take you up on that frag. When can I come for a viewing? I am off this weekend.

Frag!?

lol. I'll look the colony over for a good opportunity for you. You just have to tell everyone it's a WA BlueBomber and was a steal for 200.00 per centimeter ;)

PM heading in your general direction

WA Bluebomber, what a great name. $200 per centimeter sounds reasonable too.
