they are doing a little better each day, however my alien eye rock is now completely gone, I had 20 polyps now none. I hope to find some more of these because they are some of my favorites..

aahh dood :(, i know how you feel :(, i lost some of my red zoos and green ones too .
well i know there's someone selling all their zoos collection...you can always do that :D :p

hey matt, to get things back on track I have some zoos that seem to have a fungus on them. I bought a container of kent lugols iodine and it says for dips use 40 drops per gallon of saltwater. I am now nervous to dip them but I want to save my zoos. It also has a direction to add right to your tank is that a good idea?
steve

no dood don't dump it in your tank, i believe you're not suppose to.
what kind of fungus you got there Steve? white dots? melting? i don't know, please give us some info dood.
don't be afraid of dipping them, you should be more afraid of loosing all of them ;) :p

no not dots gabs more like whiteish stringy cottony looking stuff....lol at leats i think its fungus. Its on the edge and is working its way in.

I am late on the string here, but any chance of warefare toxins? I had a small paly colony look like it was almost dead. It was fungussy with "whiteish stringy cottony looking stuff" and shrunk up: many rotting away. It had fallen on a nasty carpet and wounds got infected. I put it away from everything else in a good water flow. It is currently almost back to normal. Good luck on yours too.

That white fungus is just another problem dealing with zoanthids.
Some people say you can do the same dip you do for nudi's and there are a couple other concoctions that have been used.
One is to do a dip with 10% hydrogen peroxide and 90% tank water for about 2-3 minutes.
Another was with a antibacterial medication with tank water. If you do a search on Reef Central for white fungus in the zoanthid section you will find a ton of info.

would the iodine dip work on nudis as well as the fungus or should they be fresh water dipped and then iodine?

I wouldn't recommend the freshwater dip for a fungus/white cotton problem on zoanthids. The freshwater is primaraly for trying to kill the nudibranchs. Thats why I mention the hydrogen peroxide dip.
About 3-4 years ago when the barbie pink zoanthids started hitting the boards, alot of them came in and developed a white cotton/fungus starting at one end of the colony and spread to the other end, fairly fast. Usually to other colonies of different colors, with nearly 100% death.
On Reef Central the 10% hp with 90% tank water was one of the tools used.
I used this dip with all pink colonies when they came in and were still healthy.
I never got that fungus thing, when other people that received frags from the same place did get the fungus, that didn't dip.
I also read about people using a tetracyline dip. Some swore by it.
So, like I said do some searching on RC and read the info that people posted and be your own judge.
