Anyone have any experience with Bubble Max skimmers?

I'd stick with known brand skimmers. ATI, Reef octopus, SWC, and others are all great affordable choices. Have you seen his (ap's) skimmers in action? I have in his store and they aren't skimming much at all! As far as Natural sea water I get mine at the Seattle Aquarium. It's only 5 cents a...

    new to reef

Aaron, You have found the right place. Welcome. Definate yes on ro/di. It's good that you're planning ahead. You'd be wise to try to figure out what type of livestock you plan to have in this tank, then buy the right equipment up front so it doesn't cost you again later.

    Should I be concerned?

I think sunken living rooms are cool :-) :-( You have to have some way of getting under your house. Like already said that's code. I doubt you are in any real danger. I would find a way under your house to shore it up.

    my 20 is running wild

Just start using ro for water changes and top off. Your phosphate remover should be able to deal with the tap water you currently have in your tank. Even seasones live rock will go through another cycle in a new tank. What do you have on your tank for filtration? do you have a skimmer? If not...

    my 20 is running wild

I would stop using tap water immediately. You will always be fighting green hair algae using tap water. Phosphate remover is a bandaid. Start using ro/di water and your problem will go away.

    My new Sump

I got my new sump today. I think it looks awfully cool!! And I got it made for an outstanding price. It measures 46l x 26w x 19t. It has a 20 gallon fuge built in. It's made out of 1/2" cast acrylic. This is my first stab at designing a sump. What'cha think?

    Fuge Set Up questions

Thanks for all the replies. I too will have a "T" in my gravity drain line with a ball valve on the fuge side. So I think I will be going with a bare bottom with some rubble for pods to hide or just move one of my 2 pod condo's into my fuge. A little koralia K1 or K2 probably isn't a bad idea...

    Fuge Set Up questions

So I will have my new sump tommorow with a 19 gallon fuge built in. I see people with sand beds and rock rubble in their fuges. What is the purpose of that in a fuge? Doesn't that make for a possible nitrate trap? Also what is the recommended gallons per hour per gallon of fuge recomendation...

Reef Octopus NWB 200& bubble blaster

Skimmerwhisperer, I'm glad you chimed in. I tried an octo extreme 200 with the single sicce and my nwb200 kicked it's behind on my system. My tank is 230 gallons and I'm upgrading my sump so my new sump will hold about 50 gallons at normal operating range. I have a line on a warner marine...

Reef Octopus NWB 200& bubble blaster

I have a Reef Octopus NWB 200 skimmer and am looking to either get a bigger skimmer or put a bubble blaster 2000 or 3000 pump on it to increase it's skimmage. This is a great skimmer as is and pulls really nasty skimmate at a rate of about 1/2 its collection cup a week. I'd like to pull 1 of...
