    Sump Question

Raw unskimmed/filtered water is where the highest accumulation of nutrients is going to be, which is what feeds the algae in your fuge. This isn't to say that there aren't still nutrients in the left over water coming from the return, but to maximize the benefit of growing macro, you want it...

    Suddenly wet skimmer

something get in your change water? container manage to get some soap residue of some sort in it? I've had this problem with HOB skimmers occasionally when I feed mussles, something in their slime makes the skimmer go nuts. Would probably let it sit for a day and retry.

    Sump Question

If you wanted to do a fuge above your return zone, I would consider doing a "Suspended" or "elevated" fuge of some sort that would be seperate from the sump itself. On a seperate note, you really want RAW unskimmed tank water going into your fuge to maximize the benefit. Having your return...

    Sump Question

One problem that strikes me right off hand is being able to handle evap loss. By placing your fuge directly over the top of your return zone you dramatically reduce the amount of water that zone can hold which would likely mean that without the use of an ATO, you would likely come home to your...

Does anyone know what these are?

I have a colony of green birdsnest, that has been STN'ing for a while now. After finally deciding to grag the colony and save what I could, I noticed these snails that were attached to the colony near the base. They have been there for quite sometime, as I've seen them before but thought they...

designing pro equipment, what do you want???

How about an all-in-one calcium AND Kalk reactor with a second stage effluent chamber on the calcium reactor side. Something with say a rectangular footprint, externally mounted that will save space and money from having to have seperate units? Plus the pH offset benefit of having both style...

Our New Baby :) Fish Baby :)

All three of those potters they got in looked great. Thought about picking one up for myself, but I'm already testing the limits in too many other ways with two different sifter gobies, two types of clowns, multiple types of damsels, a coris wrasse in a reef, a lion fish in a reef. I have a...

    Too low mag and ca.

Shouldn't take any longer than 24hrs to stabilize, first things first though, what are your tank specs, what brand of Mag are you dosing, and same with Calcium? I'm asuming you're using the Salifert test kits?
