Every Reefers Worst Nightmare come true -Warning graphic photos

Sorry to see this. To tell you the truth I have never found a heater that I like. I currently have two 500W Finnex titaniums... will keep an eye on them. I did have one stop working last year, but I think it's because it was exposed to air. I think they have a non-replaceable fuse in them...

Yeah Yeah just bragging, but 30 years!

30 years, that is a long sentence. Maybe the governor will pardon you. Congratulations!

    Building a stand

Wow, thanks Tom, great information! Most plans I've seen have cross members on the top of the frame every 2 feet or so. Also I like the two cabinets rather than three smaller ones.

    Building a stand

Ok, my wife bought herself a 6x2x2 glass 180. The stand is a piece of junk; we're going to have to build a new one. I've never done this before but there's a first time for everything. What should it look like without over-building or under-building? We'd like to put a sump underneath of...

In Wall - going for it! - seeking your ideas/feedback/advice

I decided not to tap into my sewer because it's not really a sewer (it's septic). I wasn't sure what saltwater would do to it. Maybe nothing, I don't know, but it was just as easy for me to run the waste line to my gutter where it just drains under my yard and out to the street. Not sure if...

    RBTA wasting away

I don't think he's in any mood to eat at this point and not sure I can even reach him, but I'll give it a shot. I never considered this the cause because the xenia and star polyps were also doing poorly... and this started happening at about the same time. SG is 1.026, don't see the need to go...

    RBTA wasting away

I don't feed it directly. Water too clean?

    RBTA wasting away

It's completely shriveled, tentacles are shrinking daily and he spends most of the time in a ball. Sorry, no pictures since he's hiding in the back, but suffice it to say he looks like crap. I turned the ozone off for a few weeks, no effect. I have considered chemical warfare with the SPS but...

    RBTA wasting away

I'm at the end of my rope, I hope someone can help me out. My rose bubble-tip anemone is slowly wasting away. This has been going on for about two months and I'm at a loss as to the cause of the problem. Around the time this started, I noticed my xenia and green star polyps looking sick as...

Recommendations for Seattle area attorney (accidents, insurance, etc)

Can anyone in the Seattle area recommend a good lawyer who specializes in traffic accidents? Long story short: someone hit me a few months ago and his insurance company is refusing to pay all my expenses. So I don't really know if I need someone who specializes in insurance or someone who...

    White patches

Thanks Lee. Now that you mention it, my skimmer pump did break down 5 days ago (also meaning I stopped running ozone through it). I got a replacement last night and all is back to normal, so hopefully this will go away on it's own.

    White patches

It's definitely not ich. Actually the trigger's patch has already cleared up. Very odd. Ideally I would like my pH higher but 7.8 isn't going to kill anything. It's due to my Ca reactor.

    White patches

Anyone have any idea what these white patches are? They just appeared within the last 24 hours. They don't appear to be bothering the fish. I have quite a few fish in this tank (240) and only these two big ones show any signs of anything. Nothing added to the tank for 4 weeks (trigger was...

    emperor angel

I have one in my 240. He likes to eat hydnophora and xenia, but will not touch other SPS. He's also pretty aggressive. I wouldn't do it again.

Need a good 900-1200 gph pump for skimmer

    Nope, it's a venturi (self-cleans, nice feature).

Need a good 900-1200 gph pump for skimmer

Thanks; I've had an Eheim pump that's been running for 15 years on my wife's freshwater tank. Looks like in this case there is not much difference... 80W vs 93W and a $40 price difference.

Need a good 900-1200 gph pump for skimmer

Well my Mag 9.5 pump that I'm running on my Lifereef VS3-30 skimmer started tripping my GFCI today so I need to replace this ASAP. The manufacturer recommends a 900-1200 gph pump. I'm running the skimmer in the sump so I'm going with a submersible. My Mag 9.5 worked great but this time around...

    Success!!! power blue!!!

You are off to a good start, but I wouldn't claim success until you've had him at least a year. Keep up the good work.

    Trouble brewing

Hmmm, thanks for the advice, but personally I've never bought into the dosing iodine thing -- especially since I change water regularly. Also the fact that the anemone is retracted is telling me something else is going on.

    Trouble brewing

Not really; the xenia is looking worse if anything. It seems to be melting away. My RBTA and green star polyps are also retracted. I may try taking out the green stars and see if that helps. Most likely chemical warfare going on. Since the SPS is doing fine I'll bet they are the culprits...
