ATI, OCTO Pro, or Reeflo 200

ATI, OCTO Pro, or Reeflo 200 I am close to setting up a new tank and need to make a decision on what skimmer I would like to purchase. I am open to all suggestions and advice. I am looking at the ATI bubble master 200, the Octopus Pro 300, or the Reeflo Orca 200. I am currently leaning toward...

    Orientation of Lumenarc reflectors?

Anyone interested in the difference between L3 reflector and the lumen bright reflector should read this thread. It will give you a good idea as to what is the plus/minus to each reflector. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1211402 Also the dimensions for a L3 is...

    Kalwasser

Roughly 24hrs is the usually recommendation, but more importantly you just want to make sure you are adding only the clear supernatant.

Opinions on Drain/Return for Sequence pump

Thanks for all the responses not to sure which way I'm going to go now. Going to have to think quite a bit before I make a decision. Thank You.

Opinions on Drain/Return for Sequence pump

I will be running an external skimmer and the sump will be a sump/fuge. With most of the flow just passing through the sump portion and not the fuge. If I just went with a Eheim 1262 as a return and a Sequence Dart on a CL do you think that would be enough flow for an SPS dominated tank without...

Opinions on Drain/Return for Sequence pump

My sump is going to be between 30-45gal. My max head will be about 4-5ft. When I initially calculated head loss for a Snapper it estimated approximately 2700gph. I pretty much have my sump configured, but just want to make sure I will have large enough drains to support either a Sequence Snapper...

Opinions on Drain/Return for Sequence pump

I am planning a 135gal cube (3'x3'x2h) and am unsure what I should plumb the drains/returns. The return pump will either be a Sequence Dart or Snapper. I was thinking of using 2 2in drains, but do to size and bulkiness would be curious to know if 2 1.5in drains are adequte to support the pump...

    sps frag bleaching at bottom

Your best bet would be to post this question in the 'SPS corals with Kevin Pockell' forum. It sounds like it may be RTN in which case you probably will want to frag it before its to late. You should provide a brief description of the location of the coral, what type of lighting, flow etc.. its...

    how to move your tank

Make sure you pay attention to local weather report. If it is 90 to 100 degrees or hotter in your area I don't think heating an ice chest up will be a good idea. If anything be prepared with ice pack's in a separate container if the weather is hot in your area.

    Rtn?????????

As long as your water parameters are in check, I have found it very important to slowly acclimate new sps and other hard corals to the new lighting conditions. First by placing the coral toward the bottom of the tank for a week to 1.5 weeks, then slowly raising the coral up (every week or so)...

    Bulk head flow rating??

Man, thank you everyone for such a fast response!!! This is just the info I needed. Planning a setup utilizing a Sequence Snapper, and I want to make sure I have enough flow to support the pump.

    Bulk head flow rating??

Does anyone know the flow rating through a 1", 1.25", 1.5" and 2" bulkhead. I am trying to plan for the flow through my overflows, and was curious if anyone knew this information or had a link to it? Thanks Erik

    Waterflow through PO4 Reactor

I heard the recommended flow rate to be around 300gph but don't quote me on that! Also try using a filter bag containing the media with-in the reactor I know of many people that run this same reactor this way with great success.

    Clams dying need help!!

I have noticed some detritus build up behind some of the rock work that the water flow in the tank does'nt seem to get to Scooterman. How do you go about removing detritus without all of the sand withit? BTW my sand bed is about 6-7" deep and is about 2.5yrs old. I generally feed 2-3 times a...

Fish aggression-how long is too long

One thing you can do to help alleviate some of the aggression (Won't completely Solve Problem though) is to feed more often. Feed more nori, or other types of seaweed and vegtable material which will help to curve some of the aggression. This will not completely solve the problem though!!

Fish aggression-how long is too long

This link might help if you decide to remove one of the fish from the tank. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=707656 I read up a little on a few book's I have from Scott Michael I he said that most species will get along with other conspecific's, but that the Foxface...

    Clams dying need help!!

Thank You Chris for the info. I dought I will be using that method to control my N&P cycle although it is quite interesting. I will rely on good ole' fashioned water changes and try to limit the nutrient input into the tank from excess food.

    Clams dying need help!!

Here is a pic, its the best i can do with my point and shoot camera unfortunately. It is extremely small and thin and didn't resemble any of the worms I just looked up (Oenone fulgida). You can't really see the bristles but they are much more spaced out than a bristle worm and has 1 single...

    Clams dying need help!!

Thank You all for the very useful information I will definately be looking into using different types of clam's to aid my filtation system as mentioned from above. It look like I will be doing some large water changes over the next day or two in an attempt to bring down my nitrate levels. I am...
