ahhh check this out!!!! crazy bug!!!

I have quite a few chitons in my system, most of which come out at night. Also I walked passed the Seattle Aquarium yesterday, and in their street facing coldwater tank they have a chiton that is about 10 inches long and 3 inches wide.

    Bristle worms and Sun Corals

DJ Tryrd... this is a great suggestion. Fishing for Bristle worms, I like it. I can't wait to give it a shot. Thanks!

    Bristle worms and Sun Corals

True, but and but I'd rather have the worm in an area where I can observe it more often, and not have to worry about it stealing food. Also, it's not that it was steeling food, I seen shrimp and fish stal from them, but the way it was stealing food. Physically crawling into the coral's mouth...

    Washing hands

I use Tom's soap, unsented glycerene (sp?) soap. I wash my hands and rinse throughly, and dry and rinse again. I have had no ill effects to date, and I've been doing this for a long time. For some reasonI just can't get used to the gloves.

What's the dumbest thing that you've done?

Once I ruined a new Salifert CA test kit, by putting KA solution left over from the syringe from the test I previously performed into the CA test solution bottle, which was the test I had just performed. User error! On a side note I have switched to Elos test kits now.

What's the dumbest thing that you've done?

When I first started 2 years ago, and knew nothing about reefing (which is probably often the case) I got off to a really bad start. I was given a free 55g tank with 30 lbs of dead liverock, 20lbs of dead sand, and I started cycling with 15 lbs of live rock. I didn't realize that the sand I was...

    Bristle worms and Sun Corals

They don't scare me... I just wish I could have an understanding with it. Move to the fuge and I'll feed you (Mr. Bristleworm) more, so my corals can grow.

    Bristle worms and Sun Corals

Cool... I think it's too big for a conventional trap, and a turey baster too, but worth a shot. However, as soon as it senses me it takes off, so it will be interesting. I do have a baseball sized moon snail shell I use in my refrgum that could be tried out though. Thanks roscoe.

    Bristle worms and Sun Corals

So last night I found 12 inch a bristle worm in my tank and it was in the mouth of one of my sun corals, pulling out shrimp I had fed it a few hours before. This is not my first experience with the him, it knows when I'm near, and it hides almost as soon as I notice it. The little bugger moves...

    fish in refugium

I had a yellow tail damsel in my 20 gal sump for a while. It did just fine. I have a serpent star in there now, and a shrimp. I'm going to try to catch the large bristle worm I found last night in my tank and move it over there as well.

    How can I promote copapods?

I hope it ok to jump in here, but I have had success with rubble rock in a refrigum to make a home for pods, and if that is not an option pile the rubble in the corners at the back of the tank. Feed with micro plankton a couple times a week as directed. If you have a large rock that is very...

    best way to dose automatically....

Katchupoy: Thanks for sharing... I've been dosing by and since the beginning, but your set up seems like a suitable solution until I can get my hands on a CA reactor. Thanks!

    Looking for MICRO BRITTLE STARS

you might have some luck if they are abundant in the macro algae in somone's refrigum.

Funny CR Listing: free old junk reptile/fish aquarium

I think a flood to his posting would be pretty funny... actually it would be cruel.

    Bubble Algie!!!!

Yeah this didn't work for me either... the crab destroyed my xenia and harassed my hard corals. Since then he's been banished to the fuge. I'd recommend more water changes and cut back on excess feeding. Having macro algae in a refrigum will also compete for nutrients in the system. Combine...

How to transport an existing aquarium?

Everything has already pretty much been said... I'll add, make sure you have a full day. You never know what issue/s might arise.

I'm looking to get a CA reactor for my system as well... and this thread is quite useful. It's pretty my exactly what my LFS explained and recommended to me. Now I just need to find the cash to get one.
