I want to add one more tang to my tank to go with my yellow tang

Consider one of the rabbitfishes. Depending on the size of your tang, you could probably find a larger rabbitfish pretty easily. They are not aggressive, but can certainly hold their own, being venemous.

    New anemone Hell fire

    Very nice!

    latest water test, algae

Ah, their shell homes! I thought you meant that their exoskeletons were found. Sorry for butting in!!!

    Answer And Ask

My kids are off from school, so I get to work extra hard until after the new year. (We're enjoying eachother without schedules to keep though.) Does anyone like egg nog (with or without rum supplementaton)?

    Astrea snails

You do. They will slowly starve without supplementation. If your water quality is resolved, and the algae is gone, 2 - 5 astreas would be plenty. Good luck!

    FW bacteria and SW bacteria

Freshwater bacteria die off when exposed to saltwater. You'll need to do the entire cycle. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but congrats on setting up another tank!

I just wanted to mention that the crab shells that you have seen could very well be molts. They do this to grow.

    sump

Do you plan on creating an entire sump out of acrylic, or siliconing baffles into an existing tank? I did the latter, using 1/4" acrylic in a 40G glass tank. There is significant bowing of the acrylic, and the silicon didn't hold well at all. I would highly recommend having glass cut to make...

    FITD's 120G

Thanks, Mike. That fish was never given a name, so I thought he was guaranteed to live forever! My water perams are in balance now! I bought a Mg test kit of my own yesterday, too. Thanks so, so much for your help over the holiday!

I was going to go buy a bunch of new corals

That a bummer! I'm so sorry that happened to you.

    FITD's 120G

It is possible that the mandarin was dead first, because I've had it for less than two months. It was very active, and it hadn't gotten skinny (although it was not eating prepared foods), but you never know. . . That anemone was pretty sticky, and had enough sting to leave welts on my hands...

    major disaster

I'm sorry for your troubles. What a heart stopper that must have been! It's nice to see you're on the road to recovery, and I wish you the best!

    FITD's 120G

Oh, while we're on the subject: The one on the bottom left that looks fatter and happier than the rest, has the mandarin in its belly. I don't know why I thought it wouldn't happen in MY tank.

    FITD's 120G

I got the first anemone in September of 2004. It looked much different then. It took a lot of effort to heal it. It made its first split last July, and again in November. The anemones rearranged themselves this morning. Christmas colors in the tank!

    What to feed my fish??

I also like Ocean Nutrition's frozen Formula 1 and Formula 2.

We used to, but my daughter decided that Santa eats too many cookies. We leave carrots for everyone now.

    Disaster...Again

I'm so sorry for your troubles, Nikki. It seems like these things come down on us all at once. I'm glad you used the opportunity to clean up and make the tank better for it. I think your aquaria karma must be back in line by now. It should be smooth sailing for several years to come!
