Some DIY to my 24gal Aquapod

So you would suggest going with 3/8" acrylic then for the backwall? I will probably go with a sump as well, was thinking a 20g or so. I'm still contemplating whether or not to build a section above the hood to house a 10g refugium so that I can have it overflow into the tank or not. Depends...

Some DIY to my 24gal Aquapod

Very nice Krish. Got any updates on this? I'll be setting up a nano and may just copy what you did with your 24g. I will probably go with the 24g as well.

    Smilies

Can I suggest some more smilies to use? Sometimes the ones we have now just don't depict the situation of the conversation :D

    Brass on pressure gauge

I would not think that it will pose a problem. Brass is used for potable water and would believe that it would need to be safe for freshwater. Though if you ran saltwater through it, it will in time corrode which would be bad. Maybe the pros can chime in to support this.

    Strange X-10 Controller Activity

So I've got my Aquadyne Octopus 3000 controlling my system. Right now its just turning my lights, pump, etc. on/off. Well its been running fine for months now and all of a sudden, lights are turning on and off at random, some wont turn on unless I plug them in without the X-10 modules. This...

Nice work Randy, soon we can start calling you "The Reef Saver". Lets hope it doesnt turn into a routine thing with the power outages.

    Bio Balls??????

I would definately take them out, but not all at once. Slowly take them out a little at a time to let the bacteria "repopulate", though you will want to make sure you've got enough Live Rock.. Good luck with it!

    couple shots of my 10

Is it just me, or does it look like an "eye" of something hiding in the rock behind the goby, waiting for the right moment to pounce!? Hehe sorry, I see rock monsters :D BTW, very nice tank you got Sushi!!

    mh retro set up

If you dont plan on going SPS, you could go with a solaris led lighting system :D Don't look at the price tag though, just pay it lol

    mh retro set up

I would personally go with 4. From what I've read and experienced, a MH bulb with spider reflector is good for a 2'x2' area. Not sure if 250w would be good enough for a 36" deep tank but I dont have much expertise in that area. Good luck!

    how bad is aptasia?

You can get the lemon juice at the grocery store, though I didnt have much success with it. I would suggest the joes juice which you can get online or at your LFS. That or go with the boiling water.

    how bad is aptasia?

Needle is needed when using the lemon juice

    how bad is aptasia?

Also Joe's juice is reef safe and is just said to use with caution as it can mess with your water parameters. If you're not using the whole bottle you will be fine.

    how bad is aptasia?

I believe it should be fine as long as you're not directly feeding the coral the joe's juice or whatever. If you're goign with the boiling water approach, maybe stick a piece or acrylic inbetween the aiptasia and the coral to "shield" it from the spray.
