    My tanks and my pics

I have seen ocellaris with more defined black like yours pictured, but I've also seen some true percs with less black than usual. I've heard of some research being done to see if these "darker ocellaris" are actually a hybrid. anyways the true difference is in the dorsal spines ocellaris have 11...

Does live sand really speed up cycling time?

I agree with rockyheap those bags of sand are supposedly good for 12 months but considering the way they are vacuum sealed I just don't know. a lot of companies also fail to put very much water in there. live rock and getting a few pounds of sand from someone else's system is probably best

    ID please...

isn't half an inch a pretty big amphipod...but I agree it does look like an amphipod

help me decide on lights, please

MH look incredible on tanks but they are pricey. the best bet would be to combo the lights. the only downside to T5s is the fact that they won't penetrate deeper than 20" in the water column. however, with you sand bed and rock you might not have to worry

    Odd fish really odd babies

looks like the parents might be a Neoglyphidodon spp. that genus has a very brightly colored juveniles but the adults turn very drab. that's really cool the fry are still alive (have you thought about removing them or the clownfish fry when they hatch)

    Switching Salts

I've switched salts quite a few times and never seemed to have much of a problem, and the store I work for switches fairly frequently and I haven't noticed any affects. however, we don't have any sps in those tanks they might be more sensitive to it

    small frag tank

well I've decided on a design anyways; I'll have 4 shelves of various sizes and run a small power head underneath the lowest shelf to keep detritus from piling up. I also decided to just run some PCs and I think it will be plenty of light. will be cutting the pvc tomorrow and will post pics...

    small frag tank

unfortunately I don't have much room but I want to set up a frag tank in a ten gallon. I was planning on using egg crate to add surface area for frags and I was wondering if anyone has had any success with any specific design thanks

    Coral Banded and Cleaner shrimp

I wouldn't do the arrow crab but the other two should be fine they are all types of cleaner shrimp. just make sure there are enough hiding spots

    purigen and chemi pure

I currently use purigen in my tanks instead of carbon; however, I've heard a lot of fuss about chemi pure and was wondering what everyone thought. I've heard people say it is a miracle worker in tanks but no one says why? thoughts...

    T6 HO Flourescents

well the reason I was thinking of doing it was the cost, I'm a college student and I was just going to use a small fixture for a 15 gallon tank I was going to setup. I was told that the T6s are ran on HO ballasts and figured it would be similar to the T5s

    T6 HO Flourescents

at the same time that is only an eighth inch difference and for small or shallow tanks whats an eighth inch

    Anthias tank size

all right whatever size I go I was planning on taking a minimalist approach towards the aquascaping

    T6 HO Flourescents

I saw the fixtures on aqua traders and they seemed like it would be a pretty decent budget light for the price it can't go that wrong right?

    Anthias tank size

    so a 125 for 3 ventralis huh

    Anthias tank size

I want to set up an anthias tank but unfortunately I am limited on space. so I was wondering what a minimum tank would be for a trio (most likely either Bartlett's or Ventralis) I know these are a couple of the smaller anthias. I've been told two extremes and was wondering everyone's opinion...
