Deer Park that is good water

Short answer. Yes. I have used the self-bottling kind found at Wal-Mart that sells for about 33 cents a gallon, when my RO went down.

Anyone running Koralia's on an AquaController?

From what I can tell there are 2 types of 5, 6, 7 and 8 powerheads. The magnums can be run on any wave makers including AquaControllers. The controllable 5, 6, 7 and 8 are actually 12v ones that plug into Koralia's wavemaker only.

Anyone running Koralia's on an AquaController?

Thanks Don. Kinda figured I'd get a reply like yours but was hoping for the other way. Damn, I hate being in denial!

Anyone running Koralia's on an AquaController?

Does anyone have any experience running Koralia's powerheads with an AquaController & DC4/8? I know they say not to run them on a wave maker but not sure if that is to get you to spend the 'big bucks' to go with the controllable ones or not. Would love to hear from anyone who is actually...

    hammerhead and frogspawn touching

I would watch them and be careful that they don't get too intimate. You may end up with some Hammerspawn. :)

    Feeding question

I don't think that I would go that long. I know that some Wal-Marts have a cheap once a day auto feeder that sells around $10 to $15. Well worth it compared to coming home to a dead fish. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Removing a BTA from live rock

Another way. If you can remove the rock it is attached to, turn him upside down over a bucket of saltwater. He will drop into the bucket after about 10 minutes.

    Best chillers?

I have a Pacific Coast Imports CL-650 and have had no problems with it. It's overrated for a 75gal at 1/4 hp, but if you ever want to move up, you won't have to re-purchase. I started in this hobby with a 55gal and now have a 75, 2ea, 40gal breeders and a 180 in the garage waiting to be...

    salt mix

Bringing water temp up to proper temp before adding salt will help. Good luck.

    True Percula Clowns vs False

I think it's more of a personal preference to people. I like the True's coloring a little more. Amphiprion ocellaris = False Percula Amphiprion percula = True Percula The False Percula is normally known to be a little more hardy. Both can be found in the wild. I believe the False Percula...

    What book should I buy?

There are 2 books that I would highly recommend any aquarist to have: 1. A PocketExpert Guide: Marine Fishes by Scott W. Michael 2. A PocketExpert Guide: Marine Invertebrates by Ronald L. Shimed, PH.D. I refer to these guides constantly and try to remember to take them with me whenever I...

Good news for all you Breeder owners . . .

    Maybe that's why it's labeled a 'B' for "Better Not!" :)

    Closed loop question....

Check out Melevsreef.com for some closed loop samples. He used to have a couple of nice designs.

Good news for all you Breeder owners . . .

The 40 breeders are non-tempered but the 40 longs are tempered. The fact that the 40 breeders are not temered is kinda unusual because All-Glass (0r Aqueon as they are known by now) tempered everything above 37 gal except for the 40 breeder. Just a FYI.

Good news for all you Breeder owners . . .

Per Aqueon, the 40 gal Breeder does not have a tempered glass bottom therefore making it drillable to install your own overflow. Too bad I didn't find this out until AFTER I had already drilled the back of mine. :D

    refugium/sump set up ?

How big is your tank? 10% weekly of your total water volume is a good rule of thumb.

    RO/DI question

Now you getting way over my head :) but I have done some reading up on RO/DI. I was wondering at a time back the same as you. Here's another link on DI. http://www.tgipure.com/entry/DI.html Basically, I just decided it was in my best interests to stay with both. Can't base any real claim to...

    RO/DI question

Actually you can't have DI without RO as I understand it. DI is actually an added process after RO not of itself. Hope that made sense.

    setting up a sump/refugium

I agree with trido. The way you are stating it as above you would have to have 2 return pumps which IMHO is overkill and un-necessary .

    RO/DI question
