4 days running urchin- no real foam yet..

Well, its been sitting down there since monday afternoon. It was new, and I rinsed it really good with hot water, used mild soap on the colletion cup and rinsed it super good for a few minutes, and soaked it in fresh hot water and rinsed it again. It said (will take a few days to start producing...

    Damsels acting up

My blue Damsels have seemed to have a few differences as of lately. I see some bite marks on the fins and tail, mabye even a few marks on the sides. Useally these guys get along, I thought they were paired a few months ago, now they can't seem to decide. And I could have sworn they pushed a pile...

    Frag Swap Saturday

Just bringing this up again in case anyone forgot- I am told this is going to be at 2:00 or so at Dangs Resturant in woodinville. I currently do not have anything to "swap", everything is still small. I would however like to swap for some cash. I am looking to get some zoas and some LPS. Also I...

Very good point Sherman. I think I am going to order one.

How importent would you say a DI is?

That looks like an ok unit- but I do like the dual DI that MMkeeper posted.

How importent would you say a DI is?

That unit looks pretty nice, do you have one?

How importent would you say a DI is?

My water here in ballard is about 30 in TDS. One guy at the LFS says a R/O isn't even nessecary. I don't buy that, as my pipes are probably older then him. But I am still having trouble picking out an R/O unit. I have narrowed it down somewhat to these...

    Red Slime? (picture attached)

Well, that stuff, or chemiclean red slime remover does work, and I haven't had any adverse effects, but it does tend to come back. And I have been warned that it may become resistant that stuff.

    vacum substrate

It also helps to "pull" the sand into the tube with a quick spurt(pinching the hose) and then wait for the sand to settle down in the tube. Then let go for another spurt sucking the ditritus out, and then repeating. It takes a few times to get the feel for it, but it really helps to pull with...

One week after set up and tank done cycling????

My tank is also doing a strange cycle. I think the quality of the live rock depends highly on the bacteria cycle. For example, fully cured liverock that is basically switched from one tank to the other, can simply start to add nitrate producing bacteria to the mix, keeping the nitrite low and...

    Red Slime? (picture attached)

I have some in my tank, and I found that squirting them with some concentrated salt solution kills it off instantly- at least stops from spreading fast.

Setting up a 60 bare bottom coral tank

Yeah, they were actually not that bad. The have alumnium rails on front and back, fairly sturdy all around. The fans are useless, I thought they were broken at first beacuse there was no sound or air, but I realized they were indeed on, just very cheap. I bet I can pick up some better ones and...

Setting up a 60 bare bottom coral tank

Well, we are getting close to go time with this. It's cycling kind of strangely. The ammonia got up to about 1 ppm, and that was with the brine shrimp, and chopped up prawn at about 83 degrees. I eventually took the rotting prawn peices out but the weird part is that the nitrite never reached...
