ALgea growth is from water source , flow amount or flow setup , bio load or amount of fish , and feeding habits and tanks age.

If you added them in the new tank before new tank was matured this could do it.

    Cleaning Advice Needed soon.

You say 40 times over but i dont see it. A wave maker doesnt make over and the 2000 gph return might be giving 800 gph the water source with no skimmer. Algea need disolved organic matter , that skimmers are great at removing unlike reactors , with water changes and feeding habits and over...

    Cleaning Advice Needed soon.

A skimmer more important then any reactor. Your LR and LS and water changes in a new tank is all you need with skimmer. Your wasting money and resources. Slow down. Do you test the water ? do you have any powerheads? Whats the water source?

Does carbon release what it obsorbs?

carbons life span depends on your tanks water quality. A few days or a few weeks. After that it collects unwanted elements. Replace often.

    uv sterilizer or ozone

Its just a tool for water quality. If you have no issues now then i see no need for this. Also depends on your amount and type of stock.

Kenya Dying. All else seems good

The addition of a new light source would cause stress on them . When replaceing bulbs u want to restict time and let your stock readjust to the higher lighting. The higher lighting can also cause an algea bloom. I dought this alone would be the main issue. If your tank was in good shape then...

ph monitor need asap - buy or borrow

Fish care more about oxygen levels from water flow and ammonia readings. Sounds like you have a main tank already so if you dont have water test kits then i would have bought that before the fish. You need to test your water on a regular basis to avoid preventable problems and to determine water...

ph monitor need asap - buy or borrow

Your PH shouldnt vary enough to need one. Your PH can vary from a morning reading to an evening reading. For most accurate reading test in the morning around the same time. Another Dumb question i guess

The SB condition is important and can be one of your best bio filters but if not cared for then causes problems. Your main problems would be water source and or amount of water flow and or feeding habits. Do you know your phosphate and nitrate readings? And trying to remove the algea could...

    What snail is this?

They shange shells if they feel like it. The red color could be from the antic lighting. Some pice under full light or no light with flash would help.

    What snail is this?

Looks like a cerith in an odd shaped shell. If you have snails and crabs its best to add a few differant shells so they can upgrade from time to time.

    What about ?

Learning what trace elements are would help. My tanks over 2 yrs old and never add anything. Chemicals are not needed all the time.

Will this light work for SPS?

MH lighting will be much better for a reef tank. T-5 lighting can give great results and work well under the right setup but are only PC lighting on steriods. A T-5 duel antic strip would be very usefull though.

    DYI 400 Watts MH

The commercial ballest would just be better constructed with higher quality componets. It would cost more and last longer and ill bet it would be quieter then the regular ones.
