    Upgrading, will this work?

Bigger is always better :) Using the products you already have established will help the new system to get going a lot faster, you will have less of a cycle and less of a possibility of killing the live stock you already have. There is really many different ways and opinions of doing the...

    Cold Water Tank?

I would check with Fish and GAme department. You may be suprised at the amount of fine you could get from such an adventure. You might have to get a permit.

    Upgrading, will this work?

I agree with Sid, I would pressure wash the new rock to remove any dead organic material. This will allow the beneficial organism to propagate the new rock a little faster. Also as I said before you could put the new rock in a bucket or trash can a start the cycle a little sooner. The water...

    Upgrading, will this work?

OK, Now I am a little confused.... Your first post said that you planned on not having a DSB with very little sand in the display. All of the new stuff will cycle. You can always put your New rock and sand in a bucket or trash can and start the cycle process before you add it to the new...

    Upgrading, will this work?

I would say with what you currently have should not be a problem. If you plan on adding more to your "new" setup I would give it a little time to establish itself. If you are adding new dry rock and sand to expect a cycle, it should not effect your corals and current life, keep in mind the...

!!!!The Offiicial Thatguy's In Wall Build!!!!!

Do you mean that you are going to pump the waste water in the drain of the washing machine?? If you pump it into the machine you will have to run the macine to empty the washer out. LOL Why not just run some of the RO tubing to the drain it is pretty cheap and easy to hide.

    Upgrading, will this work?

I think a lot will depend on the "load" in the setup. If you upgrade with more water and more rock to your already established system it should only make it better. Everything in the established tank will have new space to grow and thrive. However if you are adding more of a bio load to a new...

I am an acrylic newby with a couple Qs

You can sand the acrylic to give it a "smokey" look. The Coraline algae will attach to the overflow box over time and will not be so noticeable.

I am an acrylic newby with a couple Qs

but are you drilling the bottom or the back or the side? I was thinking a elevated box. this opens up a little more room in the tank instead of taking up the whole corner. Like maybe a 4x4x4 or something...

    Skimmer tuning

The mod mesh makes more bubbles. The bubbles lift the dirt up and out of the tank to the skimmer collection cup. Usually you like to have your foam dryer so you do not have the excess liquid in the cup. The higher end skimmers you Can adjust the level of the water inside the skimmer with a...

I am an acrylic newby with a couple Qs

Once the overflow is full ther is not that much pressure pushing in on the acyrlic. are you drilling the tank through the bottom? Why not buid a box. In larger tanks I have had problems of the acyrlic come loose from the glass if the tank has any give to it. You could also make it from glass...

    Skimmer tuning

Looks like it is working to me. As mentioned that is probably one of the lower level skimmers. I believe the box rates it for a 100 gallon tank. LOL Usually it takes a couple of days for most skimmers to start to properly skim. I do not know why maybe just to get a coat of "stuff" on the...

    calcium reactor

Maybe you could try and clean the pump with some vinegar. Sometimes if the pump has sat for a while the impeller magnetism seems to be off? If the problem persists a new impeller may solve the problem. Do not soak any rubber parts in it, but anything else is fine. Also try some new hose,CO2...

    Jesse's 40B with 20L sump

You could try some egg crate to help fill the gap where you removed the teeth. Sorry about all the territory issue with your tank, try and remember as things get bigger, usually mush bigger, LOL, be prepared to trade them in for smaller guys, or find someone with a bigger tank. If you look...
