    Coral Rescue Group

Sounds much easier for sure, there are some specimens this will not work for of course but for the majority I think that would be a great idea

    Coral Rescue Group

Probably the subject matter of another thread. Prevention is always nice but sometimes there simply is no "out" and a guy either moves it or looses it. This is about an alternative to a total loss that otherwise would be inevitable.

    Coral Rescue Group

Yes this most certainly entered my mind. I think the most likely candidates are going to be those whom either have size-able qt setups, propagation setups or are just willing to setup systems on short notice. As the mortality rate is going to be an issue as well, most would need to concede to...

    Coral Rescue Group

Ok another one if my "woke me up from a sleep" ideas :) Over the last 2 years I know of several dozen reefers personally that lost their tanks due to storms that they "Knew" were coming. To make a long story short, they had ample time to bag and ship the livestock out but had no where to send...

    Thanks :) .....

    1st frag tank

I was considering a prop tank that fits under a spare T5 fixture I have at 24X36, question is depth. I see no real point in making this thing 18" deep (except for water volume). What would be a minimal depth for a tank like this? (purely for grow out)

    coral sting

All funning aside, a guy I work with has a scar that runs the full length of his hand (top) from an infection (parasitic) he got working in his aquarium. He was about 1 day from having his entire hand amputated. Not funny stuff at all... Not to mention he is a Cisco Systems engineer, and that...

    Closed loop timing

Good point, I just did it to reduce the noise in the fish room at night and try to give them a bit of a rest :)

    Closed loop timing

I reduce flow at night 1100Gph Closed loop 650 Gph from refugium/sump 1500/3000 Tunze unit At lights out, the Tunze unit goes offline

Water for setting up a Q-tank

I think most fish perish in QT due to ammonia spikes. As the tanks are normally small, the levels of ammonia build quickly initially. I run an ammonia badge in my qt tanks and without fail, day 2 brings an ammonia spike that ends up requiring large water changes. This is not to much an...

    1st frag tank

I have run 50% and up changes for a long time, and it seems to keep all the chemicals in balance and (should I say) I rarely test water parameters as they always test the same 0/0/0 and my ph with kalk stays 8.1-8.4 (that does have a pinpoint monitor) I think I save about $100 a year on test...

    1st frag tank

I have only been doing this for a few years but every time I have allowed nutrient levels to start climbing in my tanks, seems stuff turns brown (sps especially) Feeding the inhabitants has always been a big plus to growth but the water quality seemed to have profound effects on the "visual"...

    1st frag tank

He has a book (Book of Coral Propagation) that you should get, but typically you should have a skimmer on any tank.
