Pretty good so far, I was up until 2am working everything out. I found out that my GenX 1190GPH pump is actually whisper quite. All the noise comes from it vibrating other things. I moved it outside of my cabinet and onto the floor with some carpet padding under it. The tubing now passes through...

I'm doing some fairly big changes tonight with my plumbing. I decided I didn't like my PM Bullet skimmer in the sump because it takes up the whole thing and doesn't leave me any room for a refugium or anything. I also picked up a kent float valve from Dan today and modified it to accept 1/2"...

Sounds great. I should probably look into dimmable drivers for my leds as well. Im looking at rubermaid stock tanks right now. Im envisioning a giant sump full of live rock or agrocrete and low lighting plants/corals. This hobby is too obessive. I only slept two hours last night because I spent...

What wattage leds are you going with? I found out there is such a thing as too much light. I have 72 watts leds on my 58 gallon, plus my PC's lights at around 130watts, and I feel like I'm scorching stuff. Dan said that his anemones did not respond well to led lighting on one of his tanks. The...

Ya, I'm just checking out float valves that don't require pressure. It seems there are quite a few good choices to choose from and I really like the fact that the system would have very few working parts, which means less to go wrong. Here is what I have come up with so far...

    Interest in Missoula Reef Club?

I just thought of another cool idea. I will use a sealed 5 gallon container that i usually use to transfer ro water as my collection for my skimmer.I will just add a bulkhead to it and run the tubing to my skimmer. I will also wire my skimmer pump to a float switch in the container to turn off...

Thats a great idea. I just constructed a rolling platform for my brute trashcan to sit on. Im trying to get it slightly higher than the sump and place it in the room behind my saltwater tank. Now im going to look for a float valve that will work with gravity or a powerhead. I would prefer no...

I thought about that, but the skimmate would be very dilutted. Right now im only pulling about a cup of tea colored skimmate a day. If I made it even more wet it would probably just look like regular sea water.

Well my pm bullet skimmer has a hose running from the collection cup that could easily go to a 5 gallon bucket and I was thinking of using a 32 gallon brute trashcan for the saltwater reservoir. The system could run a week or so before dumping the skimmate and even longer before refilling the...

Well, i just found out i have to work tomorrow so i may not make it in. I really wanted to work on my tank tomorrow. I have an idea of a really cheap way to perform automatic water changes. I want to set my skimmmer to pull wet skimmate and have it pull around a gallon a day. Then i will have my...

Orange Guttatus Birdsnest Coral for Grabs

Thanks. I picked up some RO water from dan yesterday. Most of the corals I have just came with the live rock I purchased. I had some leather mushroom corals that basically just decentigrated and got eaten by the crabs, a kenya tree frag that just shrank and disapeared, another mushroom somewhere...

I was in there yesterday as well and Dan said I just missed you Devon. I also saw your old tank at tropical world today too lol. Dan was calling my old acrylic tank his anemone tank when i was there yesterday. It would probablu work great for that or clams. I forgot to ask him about Kelan's sign...

I have 20 leds that are 20,000k and 4 mixed in that are blue. I think they are cree's. I know for sure they are 3 watt. I like them so far, but they seem to run hotter than I would like and the blue led's create a bit of spot light, so I wish the optics had been more broad. The colors look great...
