    520g Peninsula Build

Ami that is going to be the most beautiful tank in Whatcom county and probably Washington! I can't wait to see it once you have put all of your big beautiful fish in there along with your corals and inverts. It will be stunning!

    Hello from Bellingham!

Hi Dave, There are a few of us reefers in Bellingham and all over Whatcom county. Check out "Bellingham Saltwater fish and Coral" on FB. As far as LFS I would avoid Clark's (especially Larry) in Bellingham. They are the only show in town besides Petco but there will be a new store opening...

Yellow Tang Rescue - Fin rot

Ami, you are an angel. I saw those tangs when they were at the store and wish I would have rescued them like you did. I am so glad to hear that they are doing better.

    Good Bye

Lee! I was so sad to read this post but glad that I get the chance to tell you how much I have valued your assistance in the past and how much I respect your advice. I also love the way you "lay it on the line" with people about tank sizes for certain fish and the way you remind us to respect...

Review of recent purchase from NY Aquatic

Wow = that is a beautiful fish and she does look very healthy! I tried to look at your live feed the first time I read your post but can't get it to work. Your other fish must be gorgeous! I love angelfish too but only have one, a Majestic. I got "Fred" at Barrier about a year ago; he was...

    Sick Brittlestar?

I think he was probably hungry. The LFS that I bought him from 3 years ago told me I never had to worry about feeding him because there was plenty of detritus in the tank so I never did. But then we upgraded to the 360 and I got 3 sand sifting starfish. I will bet that any extra food laying...

    Sick Brittlestar?

Well, I did the carbon and new poly filters and don't know if that did it but he has moved to his normal cave and is sending his legs out - waving them. I continue to send food his way so we will just have to wait and see. Thank you guys for your help!

    Sick Brittlestar?

Good idea. I'll try it and let you know.

    Sick Brittlestar?

"Lurch" is a beautiful creature and I can understand why you put up with him for so long but I wouldn't have a fish eating star. Hope Lurch got a good home!

    Sick Brittlestar?

Thank you for the ideas. I tried to feed him last night but the shrimp just stayed stuck on his tentacle and he didn't move. He is still in the same spot this morning. I guess I will just continue to poke him every day to see if he is still alive. I don't know what else to do.

    Sick Brittlestar?

I have had an ordinary tan colored brittlestar for 3+ years. I got him when he was 3" in total diameter (including leg span). He has grown to over at least 18" and has always hid under the rocks with his legs sometimes sticking out between the rocks doing what I assume a brittle star does when...

    flame angel

I had a Coral Beauty and a Lemon Angel and now have 2 flame Angels. I lost the Coral Beauty when we upgraded our tank which was a shame. She was such a nice fish and left my corals alone. Had to trade the lemon because he was such a terror to all the other fish but he never touched my...

July Tank of the Month (Rachel's)

Rachel you are an inspiration! This is an absolutely beautiful tank. Thank you for sharing it.

    fishy smell

I notice that yucky smell if I have spilled some tank water on the floor the day before and forgot to mop it up. This happens sometimes with my sump downstairs. Could that be it? Maybe the stressed fish is coincidental?

    Sponge ?

That is a beautiful sponge! And you didn't even have to buy it - lucky you!

    Show off your clams!

    Just beautiful!

    Cool Green Fluorescent Sponge!

I'm careful with my sponges too but once I got some live rock from another reefer and just wrapped in wet newspaper for the two hour trip home. Within a week I noticed a really pretty red encrusting sponge growing on the rock. It must have been some hardly type. I had it for a year in my nano...

    Cool Green Fluorescent Sponge!

Nope - it is a sponge. The photo doesn't do the color, shape or texture justice. It is thick and "spongey" and has at least 7 ostia (pores). Mushrooms only have one center mouth. And I have some of those cool sponges like yours too Noobs. They are really pretty.
