help me plumb my tank, and with some other ideas please

The primer goes on the out side of the pipe and the inside of the fitting. This is the same place you will apply the cement to also. Once this is done, slide the 2 pieces together give a couple twists to spread the cement and then hold for a few seconds. That's it.

Octopus Xtreme Reef Protein Skimmer help

Give a week or so to break in. You'll probably have to make some adjustments during the process. I'd raise the standpipe a little right now as it's sounds like it's skimming a little wet. EDIT: It should be lower the standpipe. Brain wasn't working so well that night. :)

    "Lab" grade test kits.

I use Salifert and I think you'll find that's what most recommend. CY, API test kits? I always thought these where the least accurate. Sorry Boomer, this is kind of getting off topic as these are not "Lab" grade test kits.

No need for the hot and Cold PVC. Just use the basic old schedule 40 white PVC.

    live sand or not

I'd rinse it out really good. It probably contains all kind of bacteria but probably nothing beneficial for a reek tank. My 2 cents anyway.

    cyho II brand protein skimmer

You called it a CYHO skimmer. I was trying to find it on the web and the only thing I can find is a CPR BAK-PAK skimmer. Is that what it is? http://www.cpraquatic.com/products/bakpaks.html Here's a quick 101 on Foam Factionation http://www.tmc-ltd.co.uk/commercial/protein-skimming.asp But...

    cyho II brand protein skimmer

First Welcome to RF. I've never heard of the skimmer before, But as for the Bio-balls don't be concerned about them. They're nothing but a nitrate producing factory and not needed.

help me plumb my tank, and with some other ideas please

You'd be wasting your time plumbing a CL with MJ. You're not going to get any flow from it. I just got done doing a CL on a new tank going in the garage and I have a Sequence Hammerhead on it rated at 5800 GPH and it's about the same size as your tank. Plus like Krish said there not designed to...

help me plumb my tank, and with some other ideas please

You'll get it. Just take your time and it will all work out fine. For a closed loop. Basically you pull water from the tank with a pump and feed it right back into the tank. It doesn't go down to the sump or anything. Do you remember those old match box car tracks? No imagine the car as the...
