    jellyfish

I don't know if it's the same as what you saw, but I've seen a handful of these "upside down" jellies in the shops lately. Neat looking indeed, but from what I've read, and as Don said, this is definately not an animal that is suited for our aquuariums. Unless yours is round.

    dusk/dawn and MH lighting...

Unless the tank is very large, I'd hold off on the mandarin. The idea that an aquarium needs to me a specific age for anything is a bit of a stretch. What it needs to be is cycled and stable. Welcome to RF! Just out of curiosity, why did you post this on this particular thread? -Chris

    Could somebody ID this crab?

I've found that if you hold a hunk of shrimp or fish or whatever in front of them with a pair of tongs, they'll grab on pretty quick. You can yank them out into the open that way and grab them with a net or whatnot.

    Timers

Is yours the same color? Mine is actually a green/gray color. I think there was an indoor version and an outdoor version.

My 4 yr. old BakPak skimmer is hardly skimming anymore

That was the first thing that popped into my head. I recently had a mesh mod "explode" inside the pump. Skimmer just stopped skimming one day.

    Timers

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=213487-251-DT620CL&lpage=none I have two of these timers, one for my halides and one for my closed loop pump. been working fine, and they're for outdoor use so the humidity inside my stand doesn't bother it.

    Fan Placement on Canopy

The top one. But I'd have two fans both blowing in (one on each end) and the vent(s) on the top to push cool, dry air in and warm moist air out. The fans will last longer if they're not pulling moist, salty air.

    Could somebody ID this crab?

Also, take a good look at the tips of the claws- kind of like little scooper/scraper type deals. They use them to scrape algae off the rocks. But then as you move further up the inside of the claw, you can see that there are sort of dull serations/pokers type deals; probably intended for griping...

    Could somebody ID this crab?

It's a black mythrax crab. I've got several in my tank now, all hitchikers. Never seen any of them doing any damage. They are quick to eliminate a dead fish for you. Some say not to trust them, that as they get bigger they may become less "aquarium friendly", this is probably not bad advice. My...

Can somebody ID this for me ?

Looks like a glass anemone to me. Not sure exactly what type of brain that is. Here's a link to some basic clam care info- http://wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_1/cav1i3/Clam_care/Clam_care.htm and there is a clam forum here on RF. Welcome aboard!

    Sicce pump/skimmer question-

The past few days I've only been home during the pre and post daylight hours (I love my work). I'm waiting for it to break in a bit and get real juicy. Scored a new (used) sump over the weekend and got it up and running (thanks again Brett). I'll get pics up here shortly.

    Sicce pump/skimmer question-

Thanks for the input guys. As of right now I'm having a problem with the meshwheel not starting. Tried blowing in it, spun the volute around 180 degrees, light tapping but nothing. going to swap the pinwheel deal back in to see if it works. Might need to trim the enkamat a bit.

    Sicce pump/skimmer question-

Just got a delivery- Gonna try to get it fired up with some vinegar water before I leave for work.

    Sicce pump/skimmer question-

I do have a question though- Shortened Receiver for Sicce PSK-2500 Pumps The marinesolutions website says that you need this doohicky if you want to run a meshwheel and you don't have a machined pump. I am assuming that the Sicce that they send on these skimmers has a machined pump since the...

    Sicce pump/skimmer question-

Yes I do. My aquarium has been without a skimmer for nearly two weeks now. The FedEx website says it is in the truck for delivery today, so we'll see. That is the kind of part that I can see a potential problem with because I know I will not be able to resist swapping out between the pinwheel...
