Introducing my new skimmer - Deltec APF600

I got to say, I have a Deltec ap701 sitting in my garage (for about a year) and other than the pump, the skimmer build quality is not that impressive. I’m sure that when I hook it up the performance will be. Your 600 looks like a nicer build than mine. Nice Skimmer!

    Return Manifold

"This may be a dumb question, but if I want to implent my manifold as a closed loop, it wouldn't in theory effect my overflows at all?" Other than less flow(mag 18) going to it than you have now you are correct. "Also when trying to calculate the expected flow coming out of the exits, should I...

    Does this sound right?

Like Reedman said if you cal is 1300 that is your problem and you Alk would be on the floor. Your lights in my opinion are too high off the water 10’’ would be good. You lighting period it fine they are 20k’s they likely have half the par value of 10ks. You can’t keep clams or corals in water...

    Return Manifold

I echo what Reedman said, as well as, 1) Noise 2) Micro bubble issues 3) Loss or pump efficiency due to head loss from not having a closed loop 4) Wasting energy These are just a handful of issues with a system like you have now.

    Return Manifold

Daniel, your 2 1.5'' drains should be able to flow 1200gph each. The flushing sound can me fixed by adjusting the air going into the drain. I’m getting the impression that you don’t have a closed loop and are running all the flow though your sump(the Mag 12 and the 18) is this correct? If so...

    overflow advice...

durso standpipe will fix it with the right amount of air entering it.
  15. -=dieseldave=-

    overflow advice...

Josh, Are you referring to the noise out on the top of the drain or the noise of the water entering the sump or neither?
  16. -=dieseldave=-

    Return Manifold

Daniel, Are you running all that flow to the sump or is it a clossed loop?

Need help with odd bleaching events.

I went and look at your web site nice tank. Are you still running ozone? If so the bacteria methods I suggested will not work, or if you are running UV. Mike brought up temp as a possible cause I also thought of this, daily small swings as you know won’t cause bleaching in most cases. But sort...

Need help with odd bleaching events.

Travis, I think that the problem was caused by the lowering the Alk and the accidental raising of the Mg. Then throw in the elevated PO4 levels. Building back up thinned out tissue on corals is the hardest thing to do in my opinion and will require stability and ideal water parameters. I also...
