    severe aptasia problem

I had good luck with the peppermint shrimp as well, but I've also seen lots of comments from people who have tried them with no results. Whatever you do, note the comment by liveforphysics; you have to treat the refugium and the main tank until both are clean.

Does anybody else think Seattle is getting a raw deal here?

It looks like Pittsburg's 12th man is officiating.

    2 new corals...

It's pretty normal for corals to close up for a while when they are moved to a new tank. I don't know what the second coral is, but it sounds like neither of the ones you have added require much light. What kind of lighting do you have now? Good lighting for other kinds of corals (MH or VHO)...

    Refugium substrate?

I use fine sand with a few pieces of live rock and some rubble. This seems to work well for me. I've never tried the miracle mid.

    Green slimer

What kind of light is it under? Mine was yellow under MH but has turned back to green in my tank with VHOs. I haven't heard of one going purple though.

    Birdsnest Browning

Mine faded to brown as well which I attributed to too little light (VHO's). I would think if light was the problem you should have enough. I'm tagging along to see what others suggest.

Ok silly Q, but how do you clean coralline off of acrylic??

You need something softer than the acrylic. I use the Kent Pro Scrapers. They do a great job but the blades wear down pretty quickly, especially if you let the coralline get out of hand. I also use old credit cards. Some people use scrap pieces of acrylic, but I have never tried that.

    Lighting

Halogen bulbs are not nearly as efficient as anything else used in the hobby. Also the spectrum is around 3.5 K. I have seen them used with good results in refugia and also to provide glimmer lines in a huge fish only tank, but on a normal tank they would most likely promote algae growth.

    coldwater tanks with local inhabitants

I think a Puget Sound tank would be a beautiful and interesting project. You would need a very heavy duty chiller and probably some way to manage the condensation likely to form on the outside of the tank. There might be legal issues with collecting the livestock, but if you are a diver, you...

They look like worm casings. I get these on the bottom of rocks that rest on my sand bed.

    Apple Mac G5

If you haven't already, check out Spotlight (the icon in the upper right hand corner). Type in a word or phrase and get all occurences of it in documents, email, photo labels, etc. It works almost instantly for me even on a 4 year old mac (Quicksilver, 867 G4).

    Reeftopia order

I don't need anything right now, but I would recommend the Black Cap Basslet for $16 to anyone looking for a beautiful fish. I got one from Reeftopia in the last group buy and it gets along with all of my other tank inhabitants (generally peaceful fish) including another basslet (Blue Assessor).

    How did this happen?

My fighting conch will disappear for months at a time; or I will just see one eye stalk poking up from the sand. Then I will see it out on the sand every day for weeks. There is food for it all of the time on the sandbed. I am surprised that one would tolerate bristleworms in its shell though.

    Cyclop-eeze: Frozen vs. Freeze Dried?

I broke off a small chunk of the frozen cyclopeeze and dissolved it in a plastic jar with some tankwater. Then I would add a few squirts to my tank each day and store the solution in the refrigerator.

It is now Alphatronics (although it is owned by Supertronics). I called and they do carry some Molex connectors. I will be checking it out on Saturday. Thanks for the info Ken and Stan.

Looking for Molex connectors (Seattle area)

Does anyone know where I can buy Molex connectors in the Seattle area? I know there used to be an electronics supply store on the Eastside that sold them, but I can't seem to find any reference to it.

    PSAS September Frag Swap

Snobanker, I'm glad to hear that. I was a little concerned since only one of the four pincushion frags I brought opened up at the frag swap, and that one only partially. By the way, the "d" is for Dale. Dale Paynter

    Moving dillema, need advice

I also vote to wait. But if you just can't do it, I suggest setting up a small tank. Get a cheap 10 gallon tank with a heater and an HOB filter. Buy a few pounds of live rock from your LFS or someone in the local reef club. Use your test kits to check water quality. Add a few hardy corals and...
