Hey I'm looking for a good calcium reactor without breaking the bank. I currently have a 55g but I'm sure I will be upgrading to a 125 or 180 in the future, hence I would be looking for one that would be compatible with the larger tanks once I've moved up. Can some you out there give me some...
The water may be "crystal clear" but you also may not be able to see contaminates, pollutants, pesticides, chemicals, that have seeped into the water, I wouldn't recommend using it, too much risk of killing your tank inhabitants.
Well you have to have some coralline to spread the growth around your tank, and a constant high calcium level. If you have those two things, your tank should be covered in coralline in a couple months.
Hey all, I just pulled what I believe to be ( 90% sure) a mantis shrimp out of my tank, he's burgundy colored and only about 3/4" long. I know that these guys aren't very good tank mates for fish and coral, what are the pros and cons of having it, I'm still trying to decide what to do with it?!!!
The reason that you would want to put something under the rock is because of the shatter factor. An accidental drop or tumble of a rock could break the bottom of your tank causing a bunch of problems. I would go for the eggcrate myself.
Mandarins are very picky eaters, most of the time they will NOT accept unnatural foods, only copepods, and even without the six line wrasse, a tank of your size would not be able to consistantly produce enough copepods to keep the mandarin alive, he would eventually starve to death. Please...
Great start, just try to remember, this hobby takes alot of patience. About your equipment:
1. Get rid of the wet/dry, it will only become a nitrate trap. Put a filter sock on the end of your overflow to catch debrit.
2. Try to shoot for about 10X the tank capacity for circulation...
