    Fish compatibility question

This forum has provided a bunch of good clam info. I now know my water, lighting, flow is OK, and I now how to select my clam. In a link to Barry's article he mentions some cleaner wrasses can be a problem. I have a 6 line is he a problem for clams? Also are there any inverts to steer clear of...

New to RF, have a ?

Again welcome. What we lack in numbers here we make up for in coolness. I haven't been here long, but everyone is courteous and knowledgable. Peolpe aren't afraid to say they don't have the answer, were with some other places people will make stuff up and then argue even though they're...

Minimum clam size without supplemental feeds

I have been considering getting a clam. I already feed a a large amount of phyto 1.5 oz on 75 gal (DT's reef blend 20-50 micron) and cyclopeze (40-100 micron I think) If I get a 2-3" clam should I still bowl feed it or just kick up the amount of phtyo I put in the tank temporarily. The ones...

    Water Volume

I have no water outside my display and everything has been fine. I certainly agree it would be ideal to have a sump. I have a few hangups such as the fact that I live on a second floor though.

Using varied foods for corals, separate or together?

Yeah my phosphate when I last tested was .05 PPM. I have a mixed bag on coral so that is OK. If you have acro though that might be too much. Montipora is probably the "pickiest" coral I have as far as water quality goes. As I remove some softies my PO may go up as I think they have been...

Using varied foods for corals, separate or together?

Yeah there are no rules in this game!! My tank breaks all the "rules", but still does quite well. But this doesn't mean I have the secret to sucess. Someone else can have the exact same setup, but with different fish/corals and have major problems. It's all just trial and error, and...

Using varied foods for corals, separate or together?

I've never had a phosphate problem and I don't skim aggressively, water change aggresively or have a fuge or sump. People warn of this but I've never actually found someone who said "yeah my coral feeding was keeping my phosphate high" In theory I agree with you, but in practice I've never...

    Some top down shots

Great photography work. Did you leave the lights on when taking these?? Also very nice clams.

    10 gal update shots

Very nice pictures. Good diversity for a 10 gal.

    SPS and Cabbage coral

KevinPO is dead on correct. Last weekend I took a large amount of cabbage out of my tank on Anthony Calfo's advise. The corals closest too it look a lot better even though they looked OK before. I am going to get rid of a few shrooms as well. I am trying to prep my tank for more SPS.

Using varied foods for corals, separate or together?

It's mostly the concnetration. Corals spend a lot of enery "catching" food, even thought it seems like their not doing anything by our mammalina standards. When they smell/sense that food density they certainly respond. The mix of foods helps as well. This is a topic I have been harping on...

    Preparin to Sell

Any SPS/LPS you are needing to sell?? I might be interested if price+shipping looks OK. Could you PM a list of all coral livestock you are looking to move? It's going to be tought since SD is pretty sparsely populated as you mentioned.

    Anyone had this problem before?

I can say I never seen that happen before. Maybe this should be moved to the zoo section?

    Zoplan & Phytoplan

What brand are you using. DT's phyto is small particles as is Cyclopeze zoo. I just hold the Cyclo stick into the tank for about 15 sec while some melts off. The DT's I do 1.5oz every other day for 75gal. I leave pumps on, but skimmer off. You need the pumps on to keep it suspended and to...

    Sad Day

That's sad. I had a Koran Angel in my reef and eventually he ate enough coral/sponges that I had to take hime to the LFS for trade. He was my favorite fish ever, and it sucked every time I went in there and saw him. He sold in about 2 weeks and I'm sure its fine as most of the people who shop...

    We're pregnant

Congratulations. I too found out my wife was pregnant recently. Also my first. This does not bode well for the tank budget.

    Xenia, Polyps & Light

At this point I would run your ligts 10-12 hours a day and hope for the best. You are going to get some algae either way, and at least with the lights on the corals will have a fighting chance. No light+plus ammonia = death.

    Help critique my system

Finally making some progress on "reorganizing" my tank. Last week I fragged a huge Sinularia colony into 5 medium size pieces, giving me 6 mediums in my tank. Took 3 pieces to the LFS for sale, leaving me with 3. Gave my buddy a tank Sunday. He should have it up and running in about a month...

    1st attempt at pictures

Thank you for the info. I will keep practicing and hopefully get better.

    Critique my setup please

Yeah I can't say I'm too happy about the bears game. I am happy I found the right size battery for the camera, and the pictures came out pretty good. It seems to take much better pics when I focus in on one particular piece. I just turned off the pumps, used auto focus w/ no flash. No...
