Looking to buy a taller reef tank

Thanks for the info I didn't actually think about the Oxygen exchange, Although I do have a sump and it does pump alot of oxygen into the water with the skimmer and water flow. If I heighten my rock wall in the back will the fish be more likely to swim higher in the tank, therefore...

Looking to buy a taller reef tank

I did see his adds but I went used on the last tank and thats why I am buying new this time. I talked to one of the employees at Barrier Reef and they gave me a quote on the 90g tank that is 48 x 18 x 24 pre drilled and it was well in my price range. I am just trying to decide if should go the...

Looking to buy a taller reef tank

I realized I don't have the money needed to do the 250g tank I wanted to build so I decided to replace my current 75g tank with a slightly larger one. I am going to use the same stand and equipment of course slightly modified. My current dimensions on my 75g are 48 x 18 x 20. To use the same...

I am so tired of this. I love my fish and my clams and want them to go to a good home

Peppermint Shrimp took care of my aptasia problem in no time at all, I had three for my 75g. I am not sure if anyone has asked or if you have thought about where you get your water. If its just tap water untreated that could be your water quality problem.

FRIEND or FOE What is your vote???

They are healthy for your tank but the large ones MAY (small chance) eat the base of some corals So I get rid of the large ones that I find and keep the small ones.

I want to buy a new tank...

Ya I more or less was confused by the comment made earlier, I had planned on using at least 2x 250W MH. I want the ability to have what ever I want in the tank whether I do it or not. I have 1x 150w MW on my 75g and the farther to the sides I place my corals the less healthy they look, not...

I want to buy a new tank...

Wow I was considering getting a tank that was close to 30 inches deep but the price it will cost to get the Metal halides I am not sure is worth it.

Giant bristleworms spawning in my tank!?!?!

You could try a bristle worm trap, I always used the tweezers at night method of removal. You wont get the little ones but the big ones you have you could probably grab.

I want to buy a new tank...

Cwazy did you mean 3x 150watt in your last post? Surely I wouldn't need to jump to a 400w metal halide. (I hope)

I want to buy a new tank...

So I realize 2x 250Metal Halide is best but how would 3x150Metal Halide fair in comparison? I already have 2 150's and I could buy a third.

I want to buy a new tank...

I did a little research and it sounds like that odyssea light system has a problem with ballasts burning up and tends to be underpowered, and I don't see an internal timer. The Marinland one comes with an internal timer, what looks like better quality throughout the whole system, and 4 total...

I want to buy a new tank...

The lighting system that comes with it is here its the 60' one I think I am leaning towards peicing my setup together, although I did that with my 75g and it was just a huge pain and I feel like I spent more money in the long run.

I want to buy a new tank...

It will be a Reef set up with live rock, coral, fish. I did notice the lights that came with the all in one deal had two 150w metal halides and 4 long T5 Bulbs, I looked up how much it would cost standalone and its about $1,000. As for the sump I totaly agree I do not currently use Carbon or...

I want to buy a new tank...

I just bought a new house and since I will be moving I decided to upgrade my tank from my 75g to a 200g. Looking around I found that Marineland has an all inclusive tank called the 200 gallon Marineland Monterey Deep Dimension Super system tank. (here's the link) Does anyone have any thoughts...
