    MP40 Placement

I have mine staggered like that - one higher and one lower on opposite ends.... it gives the flow a good circular "up and out" gyre to move waste from the sandbed to my overflow..... throw some food in the tank and watch it float around a bit, and see how your flow is helping with nutrient...

+1 - yup, no difference between a bucket and a tank cept you can't see thru the sides.... assuming you meet the flow, lighting, and water quality requirements.

    Best Overflow System

I really like my bean animal - which is basically a herbie, on drugs - its dead silent (although the noise of my pumps would probably drown out any overflow), and the default design with the backup dry pipe for when the main lines get clogged saves my a$$ weekly as I always forget to change my...

Getting ready to set up my 75...................... again

hehe +1 on what charlie said - sand is better :) the large porous nature of crushed coral can give you headaches later on as large chunks of detritus can get trapped (IMO) and its easier for fish to play in (if you decide to get fish that like to play in the sand, which, who wouldnt??)

    Jbj nano cube?

lol - don't know anything off the top of my head except for swapping out the metal halide light fixture for a LED fixture - you can get more intense lighting with less heat.... Heat from HQI fixtures is always a problem with those little tanks - either something DIY (like the stuff you can get...

they are hung with some cheap Ikea hanging light fixtures :) $5 for the hanging cord and hardware, and I think $2 for the lampshade - hahaha added some sand to that tank yesterday too - so I've got an updated video after the re-decorating storm!

    A sneak peek into Esta's tank-dreams :)

So, spent some time on hardware upgrades yesterday :) wooohooo First - swapped out my old 40CFM exhaust fans in my canopy for these 110 CFM models... the old fans ran continously for 2 years, but they are just starting to poop out......... can't blame them, thats a lot of work!! My temp...
