I would have loved to help. Unfortunately I am not actually in the area yet :) Hopefully by September we'll be all done and moved. Will have to check out the club too :) D.

By the way... If you get the 1.5" SCH80 pipes from Mcmaster.com, they come in dark gray and is almost an exact match of the Maxijet body. This is mine for an example.

    turboflotr 1000 multi skimmer

cheeks69- Curious. Since you have it set up with a sump already, why didn't you use it in sump rather than hang on style. That would eliminate the flood worry. D.

    turboflotr 1000 multi skimmer

It's a fairly decent skimmer but there are better and cheaper ones out there. Ex. Octopus, ASM, etc...

    Seattle weather in August

Can't possibly be hotter than where I'm coming from. It is 112 F here today.

Will be moving to the Seattle area soon

I saw on the club's website something about you guys modifying the maxijets in a poorman's Tunze :) http://www.thepsas.org/index.html Very cool. If you get the parts from http://mjmods.com it makes things extremely easy to do by the way. D.

I will be working from home :) I was lucky enough to convince my current employer to allow me to do this

Will be moving to the Seattle area soon

Very cool. If I recall correctly Bremerton isn't too far away from Kingston either :-) Thanks guys. I'm looking forward to getting away from this CA heat. D.

Will be moving to the Seattle area soon

Ok... Moving date is looming closer for me. We will be moving up to the area either mid August or early September latest. We're hoping to rent a place in Kingston and was wondering if there are any LFS in the area. Any pointers would be appreciated. D.

    Interesting maxi-jet mod

Do you mean the "Swilrer-Stein" AKA DIY Sea Swirl mod? That's easy to do. All you need is a low RPM and high torque motor (about $4) https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?UID=2006031613352805&item=5-1563-A&catname=electric This is the motor that I used on mine. There is also a pretty...

What eats grape caulerpa that won't eat sps?

IMO valonia isn't what I would call a blessing over the caulerpa. Valonia can very quickly overrun your tank and are much more difficult to rid of. If you do hand pick them out, take care not to burst those bubbles or they'll spread like you wouldn't believe. D.

    Interesting maxi-jet mod

it's me Martin ;) figured I join up with RF since I was told there were lots of WA folks here and seeing as I'll be moving there in the very near future :) Yeah... Those airplane wheels do look pretty sweet. Only problem is they're not easy to find and are too large for the 1.5" PVC pipe.
