    Flow vs filter?

Korilia 2 I think you would be fine with. Avoid canisters and hob filters on tanks. They are detritus traps. The junk settles in them..breaks down...and basically becomes dissolved organic compounds. DOC's do not filter through pads...water changes and skimmers are what rids the water of...

    Aptasia-X

Did the job for me ...I piled it on top of him. Did not turn my 4 PH off either.. he is gone. I annoyed my zoos he was mixed in with. I am pretty sure I over did it since there was a big pile of milky glob over what was once a Aptasia. I prefer using a torch lighter if its on a rock with...

can you clean out old sand?

put it in a bucket...fill bucket... stir sand as you let the water flow from hose to bucket..causing overflow..and stir to kick up the crud...water should be cloudy as you do this...once water seems a little clear you should be all set. This is normally what I do to clean sand before I put it...

    ultralife red slime remover

Hard to say. It can affect your nitrate readings by becoming a detritus trap ..as the stuff decays it just will turn into DOC...then go through the break down process and then nitrates going up in your tank. Still the fact its growing on the sand means there is more to this. Since I am not...

    ultralife red slime remover

I believe its the sand ... I am pretty sure it is. It must contain enough detritus that the cyano can feed on it to keep growing like it is.

    ultralife red slime remover

Change of post I made. Do a complete sand change out. VS siphon the top layer... I am pretty sure that 1 year old sand has trapped so much detritus now. How about just siphoning out most of it and replace it. Just knock out two birds with one stone here. Has your sand been clumping lately and...

    ultralife red slime remover

Dear god Cyano is the Devil... You know its hard to say what your root problem is. I have tried the red slime remover ChemiCLean and it did nuke it out of one tank…. But another tank it would not stop coming back. I learned that when I first started into salt water tanks I made a huge...

    Copper contamination ..recycling a tank

I've been hit with a tough question about copper .. Now its not recommended to use old tanks that were FOWLR and were treated with disease treatment with copper in it for a reef tank.. The person I was talking to has a 125 gallon tank that was Fresh and he used Aquasol or something to...

    Second Overflow Box

I am trying to figure out the best route to go with situation. I have a sump that barely fits under my bow front stand...its the oceanic one and its full of LR and my big old skimmer ...phosban reactor hanging off it...so in other words no room for anything else. I want to build a separate...

thinking about a 29g bio cube

Good...simple... Dont buy the skimmer with wood air block for them..complete junk. If you want a skimmer CPR makes a skimmer that are for Nano tanks and it fits perfectly in the second chamber. As for initial use ...the only quarks I had were with the filter that comes with it...it clogs...

    PomPoms not Cheering at all.

Then its possible my very clean water is not promoting rapid growth. =\ well I guess ill just leave them where they are ...maybe put them someplace that doesnt have too much flow..but thats kinda hard to do with the amount I do have. The idea behind being in a spot with some flow vs other areas...

    PomPoms not Cheering at all.

I've had a bad set up in the past and these Xenia have been since moved into my new tank a month ago. All my sps and lps are doing great. The watermelon shroom I thought was gone and dead on live rock has since bounced back and to my surprise ..growing more shrooms. I have one issue and that...

T5 lamp combos, what would it look like?

Gosh nobody answered the reefer yet..=) Following the advise of another RF member I went with 14k bulbs and it did exactly what he said they do. Being the happy med. on spectrum I have my blues and whites ...at the same time my tank is not blue at all...near white..with a very light blue...
