    I have a firefish in quarantine.. he has been doing great for 2 weeks. All of a sudden his one eye is cloudy? I have read to check the water (which seems good) and wait to see if the fish gets rid of it on its own? Any ideas or suggestion? I wold like to avoid meds... also, there is another...

    Bubble Trap Height

    thanks... after posting I did some research and the height of the "tallest" baffle will be the height of the water.... so I need to take down the 14 inch walls, make them 9 inches and then I will have a 9 inch deep sump with about 9 inches to spare in case of pump/electricity failure.... thanks...

    Building a sump/refigium.... scenario : first baffles is 9 inches tall (water depth) , next baffle is a bubble trap one inch off the bottom of the sump and ine inch above the height of the first baffle... next baffle is 14 inches high (the first wall of the refigium) is that too high considering...

    White-3 legged thing?

    after putting all my live rock in the new tank, I saw two creatures, about 1/4" .. looked like a white star fish with a black/dark center.. but, with only 3 "legs" .... they cruised over the rock and are out of sight... any ideas what they are? shamu

    thanks... just bought a Pan World P200 ... my buddy has one and swears by it.. its in the basement so the sound doesn't matter all that much....

    My water is running 80.2 degrees; I am using a Velocity T4 pump (runs very hot) I don't even have a heater in... am I okay at this temp for fish, live rock, and maybe a few corals down the road? I really don't want to invest more dough in a chiller... if need be, I will purchase a cooler...

    thanks, I did not aerate... and I am awaiting a new pump for the skimmer... I'm guessing that once I get that running it should provide enough oxygen to bump the ph. I will bump the salinity... with that, am I good to add live sand/ rock this weekend? again, thanks Shamu ps. nice pics of...

    It's been a while since I set up a new tank... all new water (125 gal) 77degrees, 1.020 specific gravity, nothing in the tank... My ph read 7.8.... am I good to add live rock and sand? Thanks... Shamu

    Ridding Coral skeletons of copper

    About 10 years ago I had a fish only tank that was treated with copper. There were several pieces of dead coral in that tank. Do they still have copper in them? Can I soak the skeletons in something to get rid of any traces? I would like to use the pieces in my reef tank as base. thanks...
