    Water Change

Thanks for all the input on the other post. Work is taking me overseas (not military) this Monday. My family will have to take care of the reef tank, and do water changes. As noted before, my oldest son who lives up the street can help, and has experience with reef tanks. I'm been working with...

    Water Alarm

Hey! Just picked this up from eBay. Its a water level alarm. I'm using it on my RO/DI water can (32 gal). I've left the water on twice now. Yes, big mess in the morning, and the wife is not happy when the water is all over the floor. I know, there are auto-shut off systems out there. But, this...

    What to do?!?!?!?!?

Ok. I need some advice / input. Here is my situation. Work is taking me overseas for up to 6 months. I've had other trips, but the wife and kids were able to top water off, and feed. But now I face them having to do full up maintenance during this 6 month time frame. My older son who has had...

Instant ocean regular Switch to intanat ocean reef

I did in mine with no issues. I'd go a slow mix of both until you've made the full switch. I've heard some people have issues with this product. But, I've had good success.

    Skimmer

Hi, I was down there this afternoon looking at skimmers. You said you were out of stock on the Reef Octopus 150. Do you know when you will have more?

    AquaC Skimmer Owners

Any one running a AquaC EV180 skimmer? Just wondering if you are happy with its performance, or if you've replaced it with something else? I'm running mine with a Mag 7 pump. Just wondering if my skimmer is "being all it can be". http://www.proteinskimmer.com/Product%20Pages/EV180.htm

    Red Algae

How could this be!!!! I just did a 32'ish gallon water change on Saturday. My Phos looks real good, but my nitrate is a strong 10, if not approaching 20 ppm. WTF?!?!?! Or am I reading into this number too much?

    Red Algae

Yes, TDS is reading 0. Just changed the DI mater two weeks ago too. No, bio balls. I was thinking of lowering the light times too.

    Red Algae

I have about 7 fish in there right now. And, 4 cleaner shrimp, snails, two small hermits. I have no refrugium, just a 40 gallon sump.

    Red Algae

Hey. Here is what I know. I feed once, sometimes twice a day. Usually a sliver (1/2) of a mysis shrimp cube. And, later in the day some dry pellets. Too much? My lights are AquaticLife 72" long. And, about 7-8 months old. My skimmer is an Aqua C with overflow can. Seems to do ok. I'll clean...

    Red Algae

Did another water change today. Aprox 32 gallons of RI/DI water. I got a new cat box scooper, and cut it down to about 2" wide. Worked great because the sand was blanked with it. I was able to just skim across the top lifting most of it right off in sheets. This should help. Time will tell...

    Red Algae

Yes, I have and run a RO/DI unit. Just put new media in the DI part too about two weeks ago. I'll try and do a Phos test again this weekend before my next water change I have planned for this weekend too. Any thoughts on the lights and amount per day? I run from about 11 am till 10 pm with diff...

    Red Algae

Oct of 2009. New when the tank was started. How about reducing the time/hours of light? Some of my water test info was incorrect too. Here are the basics. Nitrate: 20 ppm (Pre water change) Calcium: 400 mg/L (20 drops) Carbonate Hardness: 196.9 DKH (11 drops) Salinity: 1.026

    Red Algae

It just doesn't seem to be going away? Maybe even spreading more. I've increased water changes, still there. Now what?

    RO/DI Water Filters/Inserts

Yes, I have a pressure gage, and a TDS meter for input, and output. The 001 reading I noted was for the output. Today I ordered new media for the DI, or Deionization resin. Its turned a gold/yellow color.
