    Ca Reactor output/effluent controls

thanks for all of your idea guys, I'm going to see what works - it's always helpful to hear how others have solved the age old problems :)

    PH Probe anomaly/controller issues?

Well, here's a "learn from my mistake" moment. I've been speaking with the people who make the probe and he asked me if I used the Korallin 1502 recepticle which holds the probe in the reactor. He let me know that when we tightened the probe into the port, it caused a hairline fracture in the...

    PH Probe anomaly/controller issues?

it's now reading 14.97 - I KNOW that it's between 6.5 - 6.7 Very crazy eh?! I have to wait for hubby to come home to get the probe out so that I can recalibrate it - I'm due to have a baby on Sunday and can't quite fit under the sump right now!

    PH Probe anomaly/controller issues?

So I recently purchased an american marine PH controller and hooked it up last night after calibrating the probe and I'm very confused with the developments. I set the "high point" for 6.75 (Arm media) and mid point at 6.45 (meaning that's when it will stop sending CO2 into the reactor. My...

    Ca Reactor output/effluent controls

I've been reading through old threads to get advice on this issue and it seems that the best advice is to use a peri pump to suck the effluent out of the reactor to prevent effluent blocks but I have to ask regardless, how do you control your effluent? I've used a pinch valve on our output tube...

    Holy RTN Batman!

thanks guys- yeah, I fragged my heart out, but in the end I only saved maybe a bit of one of the colonies, the rest were too far gone - the good news is that I gave a bunch of frags away last month so I should be able to re-seed once things are normalized. :) Incentive for sharing eh?!

    Holy RTN Batman!

So last weekend I lost pretty much all of my caps. I have no idea WHAT has caused it. Most of these colonies have been thriving in my tank for 2+ years. I'm attaching photos to show what's happened. What i find particularily odd is that none of my other corals seem to be impacted. LPS and...

    Pollops Not Extending Help

I would be inclined to think that like many many things in the reefing hobby is that it takes time for changes to show and you did the right thing stopping with your reactor while you relevel the tank. I think that your continued dilligence will pay off and the corals will resume normal...

    VERY odd Chromis behaviour

He's still alive, but still acting very sketchy - it looks like shock - I hope he comes out of it, but I'm really grateful that it's not my Tomini (the little cutie in my avtar, he's been around for 3+ years)

    Pollops Not Extending Help

generally you can't maintain alkalinity if your mag is low - so that shouldn't be the problem. It's probable that your corals just got a little shocked - are they still colored well?

    VERY odd Chromis behaviour

So a couple of years ago I was aquascaping and afterwards one of my full grown blue/green chromis got all sketchy - eyes bugging, frantic fins, breathing funny, and generally all mental - I thought that maybe I crushed him with a rock or something - but then the next day he died. I chalked it...

    Sea hare question!!!

My biggest piece of advice is make sure he's fed - if he isn't he starves very easily and when they die they become toxic to the environment (meaning, take it out!!!) But in the past on these forums, I've seen "community" sea hares which get moved out when the algae is gone to another deserving...

    Rose Amenone (RBTA) Questions

I can't speak for too many details - but I have the tan foot variety as well and he's split over the course of three years about 10 times, without being fed - but then I have seen my clown spit food into it :)

    Live Rock Quality

I suggest Shark Reef LR - it's fully cycled and I've loved the growth that comes in on it - 3+ years later we have a cool black sponge and some white sponge - we even got a feather duster out of it. I never had a cycle at the beginning, never hit a spike - we couldn't believe it, but it was...

    PH probe/controller

I don't have one - my hubby was planning on making one - ie: drilling - what do you think? :)

    PH probe/controller

Hey all, So I'm going to go for the next investment and pick up a PH controller for my Korallin Ca reactor. I was researching over the weekend and the most price effective for what I'm wanting seems to be the American Marine Pinpoint controller...

scooter and canary blenny with mandarin dragonette

Thank you for the feedback - I think that having three competing for the same source of limited food is a bad idea - thanks for that insight. Man, what I wouldn't give to have my mandarin back from about three years ago who ate formula two pellets - he was awesome! had a run in with a non...
