1000 Gallon

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

For sumps, I am linking three 100 gallon rubbermaid commercial use stock tanks. One will house chateo and other micro algaes for nutrient export.

Could you clarify the "micro algaes for nutrient export"?

you know by the time you finish this project you could of gotten a Lamborghini?

LOL ok, I need to look over your plans, should be fun!;)

I would get an OM 4-way & block two ports for your CL, that way you can push lots of water one way then the other, only thing If you could add two more outlets I think It would spread the flow wider, rather than harder! I just installed an Eductor on my sump return outlet & I plan on getting at least two more to shoot water across the tank each time my MBV shifts! I may be missing your CL outlets, maybe your intending on more than two?

Well the idea is not create to "flow" like for a reef tank, but current. In the flow chart above you can see Im almost creating a cylcone. If the shark chooses to swim with the current, he can reach his "glide period" gliding up to seven times his body length with little to no effort. If he decides to swim against the current, it will make the tank feel longer in a sense. Kinda like those bath tub pools swimmers practice in.

I would direct the flow using outlets near the top as this will have less resistance.

Try stirring the top of a 5 gallon bucket it will all eventually move.

Now try it at the bottom it should be slower because of all the water ontop of it.

Take a look at post #7. The two sump return ports are going to be around 4-6" from the waters surface. Around 2000 gph from each side. The lower two holes wont push quite the amount of water.

man, its going to take a LOOONNNG time to fill this tank. I have been filling one of the 100g sumps and its been over 4 hrs and Im not even to 20% yet.

the good thing is the had read the meter wrong so I actually got a $150 credit on my acct.

LOL,LOL. No I didnt. Dam, I would still be filling. What I was getting at was the bill after I filled it OUCH,OUCH,OUCH. They sent me a letter saying I have a leak or a toilet running.
I told them I will call a PLUMBER thank you

I think for my first fill I wouldnt worry about the water. Fill it from the tap and use a
conditioner. No sps or coral ? just shark ?
Dont they eat license plates, fingers, boats, doors gas cans and small cars. etc
