so ive set up my 12 gallon aquapod with my brothers old live sand, ive set up a bunch of live rock and started my cycle. the thing is, i decided to buy some oolite arag-alive live sand. the tank has been running for 2 weeks now and for the question.

should i just scoop out the old sand let the dust settle and then add my new live sand or should i start from square one, clean out every last grain of the old live sand and add the new. thanks!

stupid question, but someone told me there are no stupid questions ;)

Is there Coral or fish in the aquarium now?
If so wash the bag of really well and cut the corner off.
You can take out most of the sand in there if theres some left thats no big deal.
And then just put the bag in the water and dump as evenly as possible.

If no Fish Just take the Live rock out and Siphon some of the water out to keep the rocks somewhat wet. Then Scoop the sand up in a net as best as possible and dump the sand in. Let settle and Place rocks back in the tank.
Thats what i would do in IMO.

thanks for your response. i only have a few small zoas in there i got from iroll253 and a red scooter blenny
