I bought a used 180g,72x24x24, made from 3/8 acrylic by flying fish aquariums and after doing some research I'm feeling kind of sketchy about setting it up. Should I feel safe setting this up or should I just chalk it up as a loss and start looking for another tank.

put water in it and wait a couple days

If there are no signs of leaks, and the welds still look clear, than whats the problem?

I agree with ecobalance. Also check for bowing. Alternately, if the top of the tank has no bracing you could weld some acrylic to it. Can you get a picture of the top of the tank?

I do not agree with the previous posters. A 180 gal. 72 x 24 x 24 built with .375" plastic is barely adequate for Freshwater, and if you are thinking about a reef with 1.026 SG, and 82+ F. temp, you will be looking at a bellied out tank at best. It is always your call, but I feel it would be a better sump.

I put a value on a dry floor, and animals that have been taken from the wild, and placed in my care.

Barrier Reef has a 180 for sale, that I built and it is all .500. I also offer a .750 front panel upgrade for individuals that desire a zero flex front.

But what do I know, just my .02.

what i would do with that tank is get sum wood half fill the tank and set up a nice frog tank with a water fall and some other cool featuers other wise sump it up
