Hey all!

I ordered a Marble Sea Star and when the poor guy got in, he had damage on his legs and had shed a ton of his feet. I acclimated him very slowly, using an airline to drip fill a bucket over the course of 3 hours and was encouraged when I saw the little guy moving. He has completely lost some parts of his legs now, is there anything to be done or should I just file a claim with the shipper?

everywhere you see damage has been completely shed this morning, he is still moving around though.

I would suggest contacting the vendor you purchased it from, explaining the condition it arrived in, asking their advice.

About the only other thing I could suggest is to make sure you're giving it the best possible water conditions and keep other tank inhabitants from picking on it.

I contacted them and they are really good about offering to refund or credit you when they come in poor condition but are a little low on helping keep the poor bugger alive.

Once they start loosing limbs such as that, it's pretty much a loss :( Bacteria sets in and finishes the job. Sorry :( Very cool critters but difficult to maintain.

I have a red linkia for a about six months now and its amazing how much he seems to graze and clean of my rock and without any real noticable growth. I can see where they say they are hard to keep based on nutritional requirements.
