Are water changes realy necessary?

So it can be water changes or should I say lack of water changes, and overfeeding how about KH or nitrates?

Over feeding, lack of proper water circulation and either lack of enough water changes or water changes with less than the best water quality can all add to the problems. Are you running a refugium or sump with macro algae?

A refugium with a good growth of Macro Algae will go a long way towards doing away with nuisance algaes. It's also a great place for micro fauna to grow which are very beneficial for your tank.

Thanks everyone for the input, It is very interesting to here all the diffrent ideas and opinions out there I think everything posted here has a valid point.
I think it is up to the individual to chose the method that works best for them and there setup.
