I shipped off a skimmer packed in this box in perfect condition.

I did pay for $200 for insurance and started a claim last night. I offered for him to send it back to me and I'll paypal him the money back and deal with the post office. I should have just taken the local offers I guess

Good lord, what did they put that thru anyway. A shredder? Thats just crazy!

Funny thing this is the first time I paid for insurance and also the first time something I have shipped that arrived damaged. Maybe it's like when your at the doctor or dentist when they know you have insurance so they do all the little things they can and there like what do you care you have insurance. They see it has insurance so they feel they don't have to be careful?

Yeah, you never know, do you? Now you will just have to wait 6 months for the claim to get paid!

I have just about given up dealing with the USPS for anything important. In the last couple years, I've had mangled packages and lost packages (one was a limited edition item that was discontinued and could not be replaced). I have had much better luck with FEDEX. Even UPS tends to 'misplace' things, and I have insisted they do not leave anything at my house. (I do not live in a neighborhood prone to crime.) I pick up all my UPS packages at the regional facility if I'm not home to accept delivery. Thus far, I've not had an issue with FEDEX.

My stupid SWC150 from canada came cracked too! I dont blame it on jason at swc but more so on UPS for sure! My new skimmer arrived and sat at the warehouse place for like a week till i went down myself looking for it....they took my old one though and sent it off back to him right away.

I assume the brown cardboard box was not sent by you? So it looks like USPS packed your box into a second box?

Unfortunately, USPS is likely to claim "inappropriate packaging" in order to deny the claim. I think their recommendation is 1"-2" of foam packaging, between the product and the box. While this recommendation may be WAY ridiculous, it's their "out" when an insurance claim is made.

I hope that I'm wrong, but I've seen this happen, numerous times, as a way for USPS to deny an insurance claim.

I know I could have used a stronger box but I don't think that would have helped in this case. He said he has a guy that will fix it for $65 so I said he could send the whole thing back to me and I'll refund his money or I'll pay to have it fixed. He opted to have it fixed and I'll deal with usps I'm not having high hopes. I payed him back the $65 today.

Keep in mind I bought this coffee maker from Amazon and this is the box they shipped it to me in, it was in a bag called gift wrapping with no extra insulation. I got it delivered from ups and you saw the box was perfect before.

I don't know if that's the only damage to the skimmer but looking at the pics I think that could be repaired. I'd certainly give it a shot. Seep some water thin solvent into the crack in the cylinder. If the base can be disassembled you should be able to fix that too. Won't be as pretty as new but will work and that's what counts. Once it's fixed sell it locally.

Just saw in your post above that you're going to have it fixed. Hopefully USPS will make it right. Maybe you'll have better luck than I had with UPS when they destroyed an ETSS skimmer I shipped.

Just an update to let everyone know I'm happy with USPS again they paid me the full $200 no questions asked!

Looks like it got caught up in some of their equipment. Suck but looks like with some weldon it would be fixable.

i coulda fixed mine with weld on but why did i pay full money for a new produce to get a broken one... just my situation and my pinion...

No I agree, paid for a new one and deserved a full refund. But you should be able to fix that one and sell it for less the second time around. Heck I'd give something for it broken.

I offered the guy I sold it to to ship it back to me for a full refund. He told me if I paid him $65 to have it professionally repaired he would rather keep it so that's what I did. I took all the risk of getting paid from usps and it worked out in my favor for once :). I'm pretty happy with the situation and bought my self a Tunze 6105 with the money.
