My Blue Tang definately has Ich (cryptocaryan) and I've been using Moe's Marine Aquarium Handbook as my guide. I thought I'd share this photo ... I'd be grateful to those of you with lot of experience with Blue Tangs and/or Ich.

Despite the showing of the parasites, the appearance/color and respiration of my tang look normal. In fact, he looks beautiful blue as ever!!

It appears I currently suffer from wishful thinking that I need to do nothing! In other words, my brain needs a good slap to do something.

Any words of wisdom out there! Thanks in advance!

PS: I hope the attached picture finds it's way to this posting!

IF it were me, I would feed him a good food. My idea of good food is New LIfe Spectrum Thera A. If my water quality if good. I am betting on a 100 percent recovery. Hippo tangs sometimes stress when rocks are moved. I bet he comes back to himself quick.

Once your tank gets ICK you have to remove any potential carriers for ICK & QT the fish long enough in hypo to eliminate it completely, SteveS forum has all the details on how to do this. You can just do Like Ed said, feed him well & provide a good home & probably won't have problems as long as he isn't stressed. I use new life spectrum pellets soaked in garlic extreme to help with his appetite. Best choice is qt before adding to your tank as a rule anything wet but in your case it may be difficult so you may be able to live with ICK in your tank & not have problems other than the occasional itch.

Howdy - yet sometimes "Ich Happens" - most effective cure that we have found here at our shop is known as No-Sick-Fish. It totally saved all of our beloved fish in our 400 Gallon Display Tank (which is loaded with thousands of dollars of mixed corals). It's a seven day treatment - twice daily, but it is the only "Silver Bullet" cure that I have come across in my 16 years of reefkeeping. Expect to have it in stock again by tomorrow.

Best,
Wil

The most effective cure for ich is a healthy tank. There is no "silver bullet" cure for ich........dont buy into this riemannp! Nothing but snakeoil! IMO.......

Every Hippo Tang I have even seen came with ich preinstalled at the factory. Keep him happy and stress free and feed him good and it shall pass.

If you OT ahead of time, you can teat the fish & remove the ICK problem before you add it to your tank & you will not have to ever deal with ICk, break the rules & you will have to live with it. I have had Regals that never had ICK, many people have misconceptions thinking It will just go away but once infected it will stay in your tank unless you treat the entire tank.
