Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Don stopped by with the stand this afternoon. It looks so much better than I hoped for. Beautiful red-heart maple turned into heirloom quality furniture in the hands of a craftsman. Don bought the whole tree this wood came from! The pictures do not do it justice.

36"x20" foot print. There is a cut out in the back for cords etc. The light hood is coming next, probably by the weekend.

Don I can't say enough

Glad you and the wife like it. Might have to do a coffee and end table to match some day.:)

Don

Don delivered the hood (thanks Don) and the pvc plumbing under the house is done (phew, what a task). The tank is on the stand and we are trying to figure out the final placement (angled or flat against the wall). I am mixing salt water in the garage and will be trying to button up all the little loose ends this week.
I know all the elos purists will think I am nuts for having an enclosed canopy, but my wife and I decided we want to start with an enclosed canopy to avoid light in our eyes while sitting in the living room. But I may change my mind and can always build a matching pendant fixture later.
I can't stop staring at the empty tank on the stand tonight...it looks so much better than my old 29.

Onward to the next step

Vote number two for the angle in the corner:D Tank looks great in the pics! And yes putting a canopy on the Elos tank is going to get a few Elos owners taking jabs at you:lol: I know I have thought about the light from a pendant but can not put a canopy over my 70. Hope to have mine going in a month or so.

Vote: even angle in the corner. The sofa is for watching TV and you'll be happier when working on it if you have the room and straight access that the even corner will provide.. Let me know how it all goes....Lookin good.!!!

PS: I for got the paint, have to get that some other time.. :)

I finally have water flowing and lights shining. I have a lot to still do, but it feels good to see this thing come to life. Still need to add the T5s and arrange the rock and a ton of other "buttoning up" on the system. I need to raise the water level in the tank by adding a taller baffle in the overflow. I also want to make a fixture for hanging the T5s at the correct position and then be able to slide them back out of the way to access the tank.
Skimmer is performing well out in the garage and the plumbing all seems to be working. I have a zillion little things to do, but they are all easier than laying on my back on concrete rubble under the house crawlspace.
more after I get some of these things done

Looking good Bob! I've got this incredible green zoanthid just begging to take up residence in there...wink wink. Seriously though it does look fantastic. Don did a great job on the furniture. :)

I will Cy,
just give me a bit to get everything stabilized. I bought the rocks from Barrier on Sunday and it was the stuff that had been curing for a year, so my cycle should be pretty short right?

Should be but take your time. There's no need to rush it:) Everyone wants to buy your zoanthid but we'll keep it safe:D

just been crazy busy...but I will try to post a few pics tonight. Got the panel cutout for the temp controller, water is flowing, lights are working and skimmer is skimming (very well).

still trying to find time to snap some photos...been pretty darn busy, but it now has water in it and a few living creatures (crabs, snails, zoos and a dwarf (cherub) angel). Still trying to finish up the electrical. Here is a cell phone snapshot of the panel coming together.

I promise I will post up several better quality images of all of this when I get time .

Sorry to delay so long on the pics (just lots going on). So here goes...

I have rock and water in the tank, added some crabs, snails, a green zoo and sump is running. Just without the wiring done on the panels. But at least it is running and looks like an actual aquarium.

these pictures show the "custom" T5 light mount. I could barely fit the 2 T5s in the canopy with the 250 halide and reflector, so I built a little "lift and slide back" fixture so I can move them out of the way to access the tank.
