Hi Guys,

Just got a live order and our blue tang came with a white spot on the side. It isn't raised or fluffy or anything, just a white patch, with almost destingishable lines. Is this travel trauma? Can I put it in the quarantine tank with the four other fish that came? I don't want to infect the healthy stock if it is contageous.. What do you think? (Pictures blurry, try to look at it smaller)

white spot

I had a blue tang for over a year and off and on always had a white spot some where on it, but always went away after a day or so, and never seemed to bother it, however it did mysteriously die in the rocks one day, but it was wedged as if it were to have gotten stuck, so I definitely wouldn't blame the white spot for my fish death...

Well what's happened now is that the white spot has spread out to cover half of his body. Hum. Any further ideas? :(

Shauna - did you go ahead and place the fish in the QT with the other acquisitions? I'm not sure what it is....how does it look today? Is the fish behaving & eating normally? Does the white patch seem to get larger and smaller, or now that it is larger, it has stayed this way? (I was thinking about night time coloration or camoflage). Are there any ulcers or other abnormalities on the skin? What salinity do you have the QT set at?

It died. sigh. Oh well, had the guarantee on it so they're going to send another. The white got progressively worse and then it wedged itself between the heater and the pvc hiding pipe and died. It was in the QT tank and I pulled him out and did a water change. The other fish appear fine. They're all eating and swimming normally. We'll see! Thanks for trying to help guys.
