My pair of clown fish just laid eggs on a rock under our RBTA. I have read some of the post on how to keep the babies alive but what I haven't found yet is how they got them into the second tank. Do you take the rock and let them hatch in the second tank or do you catch them after they hatch?

take the time to research now, they will likely lay regularly. you'll need to get some cultures going, and that will take some time. also, if you decide its worth the work to do it, i've read some selcon on the clowns food in the week or so leading up to the clutch you plan to keep makes for a healthier batch once hatched. not sure anyone could prove that, but i am pretty sure it won't hurt.

Don't try to take the rock out, that would cause too much distress. Try to get a clay pot and put it as close to their clutch as possible. It took mine a couple clutches before they started laying them inside the pot. I have a second pot that I switch out on the day they hatch. Use these first few clutches to figure out whether they are hatching on the ninth day or tenth day, so you'll know when to remove the pot. When removing the pot, keep the eggs submerged the whole time.
I'm curious now that you've had a chance to research it a bit, are you planning to try to raise fry on a future batch? My clowns aren't currently laying, but after having researched it, and having gone through it with cichlids years ago, I think I've decided nature will take its course in my tanks without my help. I have a pair of yellow tail blue damsels in the softie tank that regularly lay eggs. Watching the behavior is awesome, but I don't think I could handle the work load, even for the clowns.
I'd be interested in seeing a 'build thread' for your cultures and rotifiers and such, along with progress if you'd care to document it.
Seems like soooo much work to me, but it'd be kind of cool to see if it really is...

It is not that bad, the roti culture is just like anything else.....Feed it once a day and change about a third of the water daily. I got everything i needed for that from reef mariculture. Didn't make my own green water, just got the bottle of roti feed. Feed the fry roti twice a day, changed a third of their water every other day. I got rid of my culture and stopped raising clowns because my wife wanted her bathroom back! 
I was looking at Reef Mariculture and it looks like between the starter kit, the rotis and the roti feed it will be about $100. Does anyone know of a different site where it might be a little cheaper or is that a good price.
its been a really long time since i looked, but if it were me, i'd put up a want to buy in the classfied for starter cultures, as your local folks are much more likely to hook you up with a deal..

yea roti's are easy to keep going ( thanks dawguy ) - I've been culturing and feeding them to my dragonettes
They laid eggs again a week ago. The first batch disappeared after the 10th day. We
Aren't going to try with this batch of eggs either because we are actively moving and at this moment I would just be happy if most of my livestock survived. Lol.
Hopefully within the next few batches we will be able to try to raise some little clowns

I can tell when my eggs hatched cuz it gives my skimmers a little push ( surfactant) filling or even overflowing my cups. when my eggs start to show eyes and get that silvery grey color i know I better go clean my skimmer cups incase they overflow back into the tank.
anyone else ever experince this?
if you don't have any idea what I'm talking out then try squeezing a few salmon eggs in your tank and watch your skimmer.....closely......ready to unplug.
